FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

!!!!NEED WX ANCHOR CG!!!!!

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"More sun and warmth"

We are coming off of a weekend which featured spectacular weather with cool mornings and warm afternoons. As we progress through the week, temperatures will get a bit of a boost along with higher humidity values.

After a pleasant start to the day with temperatures in the lower to middle 60s, thermometer readings will be on the rise through the mid day hours. Plenty of sunshine will fill our skies, with just a few fair weather clouds moving in from the east. Expect daytime highs to climb into the upper 80s area wide with readings near 90° inland, while the coast stays slightly cooler. Winds will remain breezy through the day with gusts near 20 mph.

As we head into the evening hours, mainly clear skies will persist and temperatures will settle into the upper 70s just after sunset. Quiet weather will return once again tonight with temperatures slowly falling into the middle 60s by morning.

As high pressure remains the dominant feature in our forecast, not much will change as we head into Tuesday and beyond. Expect mostly to partly sunny skies tomorrow afternoon with a breeze out of the east. Daytime highs will top out in the upper 80s to lower 90s, with lows in the middle to upper 60s. Winds will become more southerly by mid week and as a result, our humidity values will begin to creep back up. A mainly dry pattern will hold through the end of the work week with afternoon highs reaching the lower 90s.

Overall, the upcoming weekend looks to be in good shape. We'll see just a few more clouds and a couple of spotty showers by Sunday. Return to index of stories...

RING LOST AND FOUND IN OCEAN-PKG

ERIC AND COURTNEY VIDRINE WERE WADING IN THE WATER OFF JACKSONVILLE BEACH LAST YEAR WHEN IT HAPPENED.

She was reaching down, the ring fell off finger into tide and we desperately thrashed at water, and we knew it was gone.

HER ENGAGEMENT RING DROPPED IN THE WATER AND THEY NEVER FOUND IT.

For me and that's why I remember it so vividly. I told people at tiffany's, it was june 1st, 2013. I knew everything, like every minute of what happened because it was so horrible.

THEY WENT ON WITH LIFE THINKING IT WOULD NEVER BE FOUND UNTIL JUST A FEW DAYS AGO. WHEN DAVID SIELAFF WAS OUT WITH HIS METAL DETECTOR LOOKING IN THE SAND AND FOUND SOMETHING.

I was using metal detector, and it was high tide.

AT FIRST HE FOUND WHAT'S CALLED A FISHING SINKER BUT WHEN HE WENT OVER IT AGAIN HE DUG DEEPER AND THAT'S WHEN HE REALIZED HE FOUND SOMETHING A LOT MORE VALUABLE.

I'm david, I'm eric, I'm courtney. We can't thank you enough.

WE WERE THERE AS THE COUPLE MET SIELAFF FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Tried to find you all and eventually with help of staff at Tiffany and that's why we're here today.

We can't thank you enough, we're so shocked.

AFTER SIELAFF DISCOVERED THE RING HE FOUND A SERIAL NUMBER PRINTED ON IT THE COMPANY TIFFANY'S MADE IT AND CONTACTED THE COUPLE.

THEY THANKED SIELAFF WITH A BOTTLE OF CHAMPAIGN AND A CARD FOR NOT TAKING THEIR SYMBOL OF MARRIAGE AND HOCKING IT AT THE NEAREST PAWN SHOP.

We thought it would be found eventually, but not this soon and certainly not by someone as honest as you are. I can't thank you enough. I really can't. Return to index of stories...

WEATHER-WX WALL

!!!NEED WX ANCHOR CG!!!

VETERANS GRAVE THEFT-PKG

They did leave this, this is the most important part.

ORONOCO CEMETERY PRESIDENT JOHN TILFORD DISCOVERED PILES OF VETERANS STARS, NOT NEAR THEIR GRAVES, BUT TOSSED ASIDE.

It's all they have left. To the family and to the veteran it's a big deal, to these people it's just another piece of scrap steel.

TILFORD THINKS THE THIEVES TOOK THE BRASS RODS FROM THE GROUND THAT HOLDS THE SYMBOL OF SERVICE IN ORDER TO SELL THE METAL.

It kinda lets you down, that somebody that's buried in here that's gave everything they had, WWII veteran, and now they don't even have a recognition from the country anymore.

Got a call from family members concerned.

JOHN GRABKO HEARD ABOUT THE THEFTS AND HEADED STRAIGHT FOR HIS FATHER'S PLOT. THE U-S NAVY VETERAN'S STAR WAS LEFT INTACT, BUT HE FEELS FOR OTHER VETERANS FAMILIES WHO HAD ONE STOLEN.

It's absolutely a concern that somebody would take anything related to anybody, particularly those veterans who are lying here who can't protect their own property.

TILFORD HAS TRIED TO REPLACE THE STARS. BUT HE'S MOST CONCERNED ABOUT THIS UPCOMING MEMORIAL DAY AND HOW HE'LL HONOR ALL OF THE VETERANS WITH A FLAG, WHEN HE DOESN'T KNOW WHERE THEY ALL BELONG.

Somebody needs to set an example that you just don't steal from these people. Return to index of stories...

HEALTH MATTERS-PKG

LIFE CAN CHANGE IN AN INSTANT. STROKE IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE.

DR. WENDY BOND/NEUROLOGIST

RUNS:

4:29 A stroke causes cessation of blood and oxygen to the brain. It can happen in two ways - one there is a clot that gets stuck within the blood vessel itself or that blood vessel can actually burst.

WHEN A CLOT LODGES IN AN ARTERY TO THE BRAIN, IT'S CALLED AN ISCHEMIC OR 'DRY' STROKE. THE LONGER IT'S STARVED OF OXYGEN, THE MORE BRAIN CELLS DIE.

DR. WENDY BOND/NEUROLOGIST

RUNS:

5:26 It seems people get more aware to get to the ER urgently because there is a clot busting drug called TPA that can be given.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

Getting treatment within the Golden Hour- 60 minutes or less- offers the best chance for a full recovery. Each year about 350 patients were rushed by ambulance from Cape Coral to primary stroke centers in Fort Myers. With time being so important- it could've been a bridge too far.

THE DRIVE-TIME IS MUCH SHORTER TODAY.

CAPE CORAL HOSPITAL WAS RECENTLY RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION FOR BECOMING A PRIMARY STROKE CENTER- BASED IN PART ON IT'S ABILITY TO DELIVER EXCEPTIONAL CARE WITH GREAT SPEED.

SCOTT KASHMAN/CAO CAPE CORAL HOSPITAL

RUNS:

:31 What that means, is that people who live in our community can stay here in Cape Coral without having to go over the bridge for the care that they need. The sooner that we can see these patients, the better off they're going to be in the long run.

CAPE CORAL HOSPITAL JOINS LEE MEMORIAL AND GULF COAST MEDICAL CENTER AS PRIMARY STROKE CENTERS. A DISTINCTION THAT TYPICALLY TAKES 2 YEARS WAS ACHIEVED IN JUST 6 MONTHS.

SCOTT KASHMAN/CAO CAPE CORAL HOSPITAL

RUNS:

1:05 It took a tremendous team effort between our nurses and our physicians and the people behind the scenes, making sure clinical protocols are in place to make sure we deliver great care.

EXTREME SAILOR HARALD SEDLACEK IS GETTING READY TO SAIL BACK ACROSS THE ATLANTIC. ABOUT A MONTH AGO, HE FINISHED HIS 87 DAY TRIP FROM SPAIN IN A BOAT MADE FROM A NEW RECYCLABLE MATERIAL MADE OUT OF VOLCANIC FIBERS.

"we test a new product, it's the first boat that exists, I built the boat"

S/ James Wieland, Reporting:21-:25

"a lot of people have sailed across the Atlantic but nobody has done it like Harry has, in a boat the size of a ford fusion! Plus he's done it by himself, with no help, non-stop."

I make two records, one was from coast to coast with the smallest boat and the second record was that I do 5608nmi without stopping.

SLEEPING QUARTERS WERE TIGHT.

NATS

HE MAINLY ATE CEREAL, NOODLES AND CANDY BARS FOR THE 87 DAY TRIP. … AND ALMOST RAN OUT BECAUSE THE TRIP TOOK LONGER THAN EXPECTED.

S/ Harald Sedlacek, Extreme Sailor:55-:58

I lose like 20 pounds on the whole trip.

HE HAD TO WORK FOR HIS WATER, PUMPING THIS DEVICE TO MAKE FRESH WATER FROM SEA WATER FOR AN HOUR AND HALF EVERY DAY!

-NATS PUMPING-

HIS BIGGEST CHALLENGES WERE BEING ALONE ON SUCH A SMALL BOAT FOR SO LONG AND OF COURSE…THE WEATHER.

"the most what I was afraid was the 4 times when I hit with my mast the water. I had 45 knots of wind and big sea."

THAT WASN'T ENOUGH TO SCARE HIM AWAY THOUGH, HARRY SETS SAIL FOR EUROPE FRIDAY, THIS TIME TAKING THE NORTHERN ROUTE AND FOLLOWING THE GULF STREAM.
