HOT WEATHER THROUGH THE WEEKEND

Temperatures are starting off a bit warmer this morning than the past few mornings, and that warming trend will continue through the next few days. We'll see lots of sunshine today and just a few fair weather clouds. Afternoon highs will reach into the low to mid 90s with the beaches topping out in the mid to upper 80s. The easterly breeze will be light allowing the sea breeze to come ashore in the afternoon bringing quick cooling.

Humidity and temperatures will be higher through the weekend. Morning lows will be in the lower 70s and afternoon highs will reach into the low to mid 90s for inland locations with the beaches staying in the mid to upper 80s each afternoon. There will be an isolated chance for a shower through the weekend into the beginning of next week. Coverage of rain will only reach about 20% and the best chance to see that shower will be aimed toward the inland areas.

That same hot, humid pattern with an isolated rain chance will continue for Memorial Day. We'll keep you updated, but right now, I wouldn't go changing any of your holiday plans. Return to index of stories...

MARK CUBAN COMMENTS-PKG

DALLAS MAVERICKS OWNER MARK CUBAN--- KNOWN FOR HIS ON-COURT TANTRUMS AND THE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS THAT FOLLOW IN NBA FINES---IS NOW REVEALING HIS VIEWS ON RACE.

"I know i'm prejudiced, I know I'm bigoted. like I said before, If I see a black kid in a hoodie at night on the same side of the street, I'm walking to the other side of the street. And on that side of the street there's a guy who has tattoos all over his face - white guy, bald head, tattoos everywhere - I'm walking back to the other side. If I see anyone that looks threatening there's a chance part of me takes into account race, gender and age."

THE REVELATION---IN AN INTERVIEW WITH INC. MAGAZINE---CREATED AN IMMEDIATE DISCUSSION ON SOCIAL MEDIA - TRENDING ON BOTH TWITTER AND FACEBOOK.

"I think we're all bigots and I don't think there's no question about that."

CUBAN IS ONE OF THE NBA OWNERS WHO'LL DECIDE WHETHER THE RACIST REMARKS MADE BY CLIPPERS OWNER DONALD STERLING---IS DAMAGING ENOUGH TO FORCE HIM TO SELL HIS TEAM.

STERLING WAS HEARD IN A RECORDED PRIVATE PHONE CONVERSATION DISCOURAGING HIS GIRLFRIEND FROM TAKING BLACKS TO CLIPPERS GAMES, AND LATER HE TOLD CNN'S ANDERSON COOPER THIS:

".Jews when they get successful they will help other people and some of the African-American, maybe I'll get in trouble again, they dont want to help anybody."

EARLY ON CUBAN CONDEMNED STERLING'S COMMENTS AS "ABHORRENT" AND "OBVIOUSLY RACIST" BUT WARNED BANNING STERLING COULD LEAD DOWN A DANGEROUS PATH.

"I think it's a slippery slope when you start trying to remove people from the NBA or any organization based off their private thoughts that they have at home."

CUBAN IS CALLING FOR MORE TOLERANCE.

"In this day and age this country has really come a long way putting any type of bigotry behind us regardless of who its towards whether it's the lgbt community weather its xenophobia fear of people from other countries. We've come a long way and with that progress comes a price we're a lot more vigilant and a lot less tolerant of different views."

COULD CUBAN BECOME STERLING'S SAVING GRACE?

WHILE CUBAN WONT SAY WHETHER HE'LL VOTE STERLING OUT OF THE LEAGUE----HE DOES ADVOCATE GIVING PEOPLE SECOND CHANCES.

"I try to catch always my prejudice and recognize and be very self-aware that my stream of thought is never perfect and I've got to careful and to me that's part of growing up, that's part of, it's what I try to instill in my kids." Return to index of stories...

HEALTH MATTERS-ONCAM

WHEN IT COMES TO PROSTATE CANCER, THE PSA IS THE MOST COMMON SCREENER.

BUT THE TEST IS NOT WITHOUT IT'S CRITICS.

MANY FEEL IT'S UNRELIABLE IN MAKING A TRUE DIAGNOSIS.

IN TODAY'S HEALTH MATTERS AMY OSHIER EXPLAINS WHAT'S NEXT IF YOU HAVE A HIGH PSA. Return to index of stories...

HEALTH MATTERS-PKG

IT'S OFTEN THE CASE- MEN WHO HAVE AN ELEVATED PSA DURING PROSTATE SCREENING DO NOT HAVE CANCER. BUT MANY EXPERTS STILL STAND BY THE TEST.

LAURIE WISE/NURSE NAVIGATOR

RUNS:

7:28 Elevated PSA is usually tracked and if it accelerates rapidly, we look more at that than the actual score of the PSA itself.

AS A NURSE NAVIGATOR FOR THE REGIONAL CANCER CENTER, LAURIE WISE IS AN ADVOCATE OF THE PSA.

LAURIE WISE/NURSE NAVIGATOR

RUNS:

8:20 Absolutely. Screening really does change lives and saves lives.

SOME ARGUE THE TEST RETURNS TOO MANY HIGH READINGS. WHICH IS WHY ONE HIGH PSA DOESN'T A DISEASE MAKE. HOWEVER, IF SUBSEQUENT TESTS ARE ALSO ELEVATED, A DOCTOR IS LIKELY TO LOOK FOR OTHER SYMPTOMS AND CONSIDER A BIOPSY.

LAURIE WISE/NURSE NAVIGATOR

RUNS:

1:07 What can happen to some men is they notice an urgency or frequency in their urination; other men they have no symptoms whatsoever. In the very advanced stages of prostate cancer, unfortunately patients often present with bone pain.

AMY OSHIER/REPORTING

RUNS:

A biopsy is used to confirm cancer. It's performed by inserting a slim needle into the prostate gland and extracting tissue samples. The results are scored and represent risk.

LAURIE WISE/NURSE NAVIGATOR

RUNS:

2:13 The Gleason Score, which is one of the indicators we use when we do a biopsy, can really tell us how aggressive this cancer is. And that interpretation of that score, can really direct the physician's treatment of the cancer.

MEN WITH SLOW GROWING CANCER MAY TAKE A WATCHFUL APPROACH. OTHERS MAY NEED A COMBINATION OF TREATMENTS IMMEDIATELY. EITHER WAY- THE PSA IS A STARTING POINT. FOR LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM, I'M AMY OSHIER. Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

CAR INSURANCE-ONCAM

THERE ARE SOME NEW THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CAR INSURANCE.

CHANCES ARE, YOU'VE BEEN ASSUMING A LOT AND, THEREFORE, PAYING A LOT MORE THAN YOU REALLY SHOULD.

DETAILS FROM NBC'S CHRIS CLACKUM. Return to index of stories...

CAR INSURANCE-PKG

IN SHOPPING FOR CAR INSURANCE, WE ALL GET. THAT THE YOUNGER THE DRIVER, THE HIGHER THE RATES.

BUT BEING A YOUNG HOMEOWNER.CAN REDUCE THEM.

"Home ownership does matter. so if you're a homeowner what that means is the insurance company sees you as a little more responsible"

LAURA ADAMS' WITH INSURANCEQUOTES-DOT-COM. WHO JUST FOUND IN SURVEYS OF SOME TWO THOUSAND AMERICANS.

.THAT THERE'S A LOT OF CONFUSION OVER HOW MUCH INFLUENCE DRIVERS HAVE IN SETTING AUTO INSURANCE RATES. FOR EXAMPLE, EDUCATION LEVEL.

"So, for instance, someone with a master's degree may get more favorable rates than someone with just a high school diploma"

INCOME, SHE SAYS, DOESN'T MATTER THAT MUCH.BUT YOUR CREDIT HISTORY DOES. REGARDLESS OF INCOME BRACKET.

"You know the good thing is that even folks with low income can have good credit. they dont have to be inter-related"

MARITAL STATUS MATTERS, TOO. RATES ARE LOWER FOR MARRIED DRIVERS.

ADAMS SAYS THE SURVEY WAS DONE TO SHOW CONSUMERS CAN, AFTER ALL, CONTROL THEIR PREMIUMS.

"Like the deductibles that you pay. the amount of coverage, even your claims history. so keeping a good, clean record, all of those things will help keep your rates low"

ONE FACTOR NOT LIKELY TO CHANGE. A 20 YEAR OLD MAN WILL STILL PAY ABOUT 25-PERCENT MORE FOR CAR INSURANCE THAN A WOMAN OF THE SAME AGE.
