FORECAST OPEN

NEW! Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

HOT AND HUMID HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Heat and humidity will dominate the forecast across Southwest Florida for the remainder of the weekend.

Along with the juicy atmosphere, we'll need to include the slight chance of some spotty showers developing during the late afternoon and evening both Sunday and Memorial Day Monday.

The risk for rain remains relatively low, around a 20% chance, with the area of greatest opportunity being the inland areas of the state east of Interstate 75. Despite the best rain prospects staying east of the larger cities in Southwest Florida, an isolated shower cannot be ruled out across the urban corridor this weekend as well.

The sea breeze will work to keep temperatures along the coastal regions cooler on Sunday afternoon. High temperatures are anticipated to hit a steamy 93 at Fort Myers, with temperatures ranging from the upper 80s at Sanibel Island and Naples, to low to mid 90s for points Lehigh Acres and eastward.

At this time Memorial Day Monday looks warm and humid. Highs are expected back in the low 90s across much of the region, with an isolated shower or thunderstorm possible during the late afternoon and evening time frame.
