Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"Summer like heat continues"

After highs in the lower to middle 90s over the weekend, the summer like heat will continue through Memorial Day. Rain prospects will remain on the lower end, however we'll have a few isolated downpours popping during the heat of the day.

Our Monday will get off to a warm and humid start with temperature readings in the lower to middle 70s. Unlike yesterday, our morning will be a bit sunnier with clouds building as we go through the mid day hours. As the seabreeze moves ashore, expect a few more clouds to mix in with our sunshine. This afternoon, daytime highs will climb into the lower to middle 90s away from the coast, while the coast and area beaches stay a few degrees cooler. Rain chances today stay around the 20% range and will favor areas along the interstate. These will be very spotty in nature and the vast majority of Southwest Florida should stay fairly dry.

Through the evening hours some of these downpours will make their way out toward the Gulf waters, with clearing skies overnight. It will also be warm and humid as temperatures settle into the lower half of the 70s.

No major weather systems are headed our way over the next few days, but the heat and humidity will be sticking around. Morning temperatures will start in the 70s, while afternoon highs reach the lower 90s. As we progress through the week, we'll see increasing rain chances as we gradually transition into the rainy season pattern. By mid week,a few scattered showers and storms will be back in the forecast each and every afternoon. Return to index of stories...

6:30 WEATHER LEAD-WX WALL
