5:00 WEATHER LEAD-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

"Increasing rain prospects"

It was a hot Memorial Day with temperatures in the lower to middle 90s, but late day showers and storms were able to cool us off pretty quickly. The heat and humidity will remain with us for the rest of the upcoming week as rain chances begin to increase.

Our Tuesday will start off mild and somewhat muggy with temperatures in the lower 70s. Sunny skies will prevail throughout the morning hours with a few high clouds, but as temperatures warm into the middle to upper 80s by noon expect clouds to bubble up across the area. Skies will stay partly sunny during the afternoon hours and daytime highs will climb into the lower to middle 90s, with slightly cooler readings along the beaches. An east and southeasterly wind flow will keep us in more of a classic summer- time pattern with the seabreeze pinned closer to the urban areas. This will keep the chance for a few isolated downpours in the forecast.

A few rain areas will linger through the evening hours as they push out over the Gulf of Mexico. Skies will eventually clear overnight and temperatures will settle into the lower 70s.

As more moisture builds into Southwest Florida, rain prospects will be on the rise by mid to late week. Our mornings will start off dry with scattered downpours and storms during the peak heating hours as we start to transition into more of a rainy season type pattern. Morning lows will run in the lower 70s, while afternoon highs climb into the lower 90s. Return to index of stories...
