FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

SCATTERED RAIN THIS EVENING

Scattered downpours and isolated thunderstorms are expected along the I-75 corridor this evening as overnight temperatures retreat into the low 70s. Any showers or storms that do develop this evening along the seabreeze are expected to push westward over the Gulf after midnight, yielding dry conditions into early Wednesday morning.

Another day of isolated downpours and spotty thunderstorms is on tap for Wednesday during the late afternoon and evening timeframe as temperatures top out near a hot and humid 91 degrees. Coastal communities will be a few degrees cooler topping out in the upper 80s.

With a touch more moisture to work with later in the work week, seeing areas of rain and thunder more scattered in nature is likely on Thursday and Friday. Temperatures in the afternoon will max out in the upper 80s and low 90s.

A sneak peek at the weekend shows an isolated rain shower or thunderstorm chance both Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures are expected to hit 92 on Saturday afternoon.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

Nats - traffic

IT'S A DAILY ROUTINE FOR MORGAN WOODBURN.

Nats- yep almost every day.

THE HIGH SCHOOLER WAITS FOR THE SCHOOL BUS TO DROP HER FIRST GRADE BROTHER OFF HERE ALONG SANIBEL BOULEVARD IN SAN CARLOS PARK.

Morgan Woodburn, San Carlos Park

15:02:04 the majority of the time they stop, but sometimes you can tell cars get a little impatient, they want to go before the bus leaves or before all of the kids are off 15:02:13

THE BUS HER BROTHER RIDES KEEPS AN EYE ON THOSE DRIVERS.

IT'S ONE OF TWO IN LEE COUNTY WITH A STUDENT GUARDIAN CAMERA WHICH RECORDS PEOPLE

ILLEGALLY DRIVING AROUND THE BUS' STOP ARM.

THIS VIDEO, TAKEN IN CONNECTICUT, GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF WHAT THE CAMERA SEES.

Nats- 14:40:20 I think we have a good picture of where we're at over six months.:24

THE CAMERAS WERE INSTALLED HERE IN DECEMBER

.

SINCE THEN, THE BUSES HAVE MADE ABOUT 10-THOUSAND STOPS - AND CAUGHT 123 VIOLATORS.

WHICH BOILS DOWN TO ABOUT 1 PERCENT.

Robert Morgan, Director of Transportation

14:45:21 I think sometimes people underestimate the public. I think they do care about children. 14:45:25

BUT ROBERT MORGAN - THE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION - BELIEVES THOSE 1-PERCENT SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

HE PLANS TO TAKE THIS DATA TO THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION NEXT MONTH.

AND PUSH FOR A LAW THAT WOULD ALLOW VIOLATORS TO BE FINED BASED SOLELY ON THE VIDEO.

Robert Morgan, Director of Transportation

14:49:29 So what we have to find out is if the legislators feel that this is something that needs to be done if law enforcement feels its appropriate and then a decision has to be made on how to fund it. 14:49:41

WOODBURN LIKES ANY IDEA WHICH KEEPS HER LITTLE BROTHER SAFE.

Morgan Woodburn, San Carlos Park

15:02:58 I definitely think it makes them think about what they're doing and then act differently Return to index of stories...
