Images you have to see to believe-

And then take a look at again for good measure.

"I looked across the canal and I saw this big black thing, and I

thought oh my gosh that's a big ol black dog"

Far from it- its was a black bear on a dock in this residential Cape

Coral neighborhood , and yes this is that same bear in the water-

It was a lot to take in for Cape Coral resident Lena Lura whose

husband snapped these one of a kind images

"That's not a dog that's a bear!"

Nor did several neighbors who soon after called police

Immediately a full scale search was underway.

"We had Cape Coral police officers out trying to help maintain a

perimeter, lee county sheriffs office aviation unit, as well as the

agricultural unit, assisted with this, as well as Fish and Wildlife"

Det SGT Dana Coston

Reports of a bear started over the weekend as far as North Fort Myers

and - at this industrial park off Kismet Parkway.

Whether its the same bear- is unknown, but FWC officials say there's a

good chance it is.

"We've seen a lot of different animals, and we see the manatees, and

occasionally the dolphin, and ducks, but have never seen anything like

it'

FWC officials say the bear has been trapped before- after noticing its

tagged ear.

Tonight- there's no active search for a bear, but police are

monitoring if any new reports of a bear come in.

Lura says preferably away from her home

"It was about the most exciting morning I've had in a long time haha" Return to index of stories...

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

CLOUDY WITH SHOWERS THIS EVENING

Mostly cloudy conditions along with numerous showers have dominated the weather across the region on Monday compliments of a prevalent east wind across the Florida peninsula.

Clouds helped to keep temperatures in check today. Highs were only able to top out in the 80s, cooler than what's considered seasonal for early June.

As we progress through the evening hours, mostly cloudy conditions with occasional showers are possible. With abundant cloud cover, overnight low temperatures will likely remain in the low to mid 70s.

Otherwise clouds should range from partly to mostly cloudy through the mid-day hours. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 80s.

The remainder of the work week should feature high temperatures peaking in the upper 80s with sky conditions ranging from partly to mostly cloudy. Rain chances vary from day to day, but at least the risk of an i Return to index of stories...
