WEATHER ON THE 2'S-WX WALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

After a short break from the rainy season pattern, we'll gradually get back to seeing our daily dose of scattered showers and storms over the next few days.

Rain chances will only be in the "slight" category today, and the storms that do manage to form should stay pretty far inland.

Most of Southwest Florida will enjoy plenty of sunshine for our Saturday along with plenty of heat as temperatures soar into the upper 80s to low 90s; the cooler spots will be closer to the coast, and the hot spots will be deeper inland.

The sea breeze will become established early in the day, which will keep our winds westerly from 5-15 mph.

We'll notice a slight uptick in shower and thunderstorm activity Sunday afternoon, but like today, the lion's share of the rain will be inland and east of the interstate. With that said, we can't rule out one or two downpours building back toward the coast through the late afternoon and evening time frame.

Daytime highs return to the low 90s Sunday afternoon, and our sky will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy.

As we head into the upcoming week, more of us will see those afternoon storms as they develop closer to the coast. Storms will become more numerous too as moisture and instability increase this week, putting our afternoon rain chances at 50-60%.

Our temperatures will run pretty close to average this week with highs around 90 and overnight lows in the low to mid 70s.

Have a great weekend! Return to index of stories...

FIRST WEATHER-WX WALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

It's wonderful. I mean I'm very, very grateful to firefighters, what they do for all of us in Florida.

It's going to make a big difference in our campaign so I'm enormously greatful and thankful.

MEANTIME THIS WEEK GOVERNOR SCOTT SUED THE U-S DEPARTMENT OF VETERAN AFFAIRS.

---SOT---

BUTT TO

I would've fought for veterans already. I would've done exactly what I did. We called for the secretary to step down, that has now happened.

BUTT TO

04:37:28-:33

But would you have filed that lawsuit or gone a different route? I haven't even read it, so the route I would've gone is to help them and unfortunately he failed.

ELECTION DAY IS STILL MONTHS AWAY, BUT CRIST BELIEVES HIS OPPONENT IS ALREADY ON THE ATTACK, SPENDING MILLIONS ON NEGATIVE CAMPAIGN ADS.

---SOT---

04:38:32-:44

I think he's spent 20 million dollars against me already. That's an awful lot to withstand. And so I'm going to stay focused on where that fire is coming from., no pun intended with where we are today with the firefighters, but that's the fire I want to put out, Rick Scott.
