PRESIDENT OBAMA FACING INCREASING ANGER THIS MORNING. AFTER A WEEK OF *DEFENDING HIS DECISION TO SWAP FIVE TALIBAN PRISONERS FOR SGT. BOWE BERGDAHL.

HE SPOKE EXCLUSIVELY TO BRIAN WILLIAMS:

"When somebody wears our country's uniform and they're in a war theater and they're captured-- we're gonna do everything we can to bring 'em home. "

BUT MEMBERS OF CONGRESS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE ARE FURIOUS. THEY WEREN'T CONSULTED ABOUT THE SWAP. AS REQUIRED BY LAW:

"We're very dismayed about it."

ANOTHER PROBLEM. SHIFTING STORIES FROM THE ADMINISTRATION ABOUT WHY IT KEPT THE OPERATION SECRET FROM CONGRESS. FIRST SAYING BERGDHAL'S HEALTH WAS DETERIORATING BUT LATER ASSERTING THERE WERE CONCERNS THE TALIBAN WOULD KILL BERGDAHL IF NEWS LEAKED OUT.

"We had to act fast in a delicate situation that required no publicity,"

NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER SUSAN RICE IS ALSO ON THE DEFENSIVE AFTER SAYING THIS ABOUT BERGDAHL LAST SUNDAY.

"He served the United States with honor and distinction."

BUT THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE IS INVESTIGATING ALLEGATIONS THAT BERGDAHL MAY HAVE DESERTED HIS UNIT. ON FRIDAY, RICE TRIED TO CLARIFY.

"this was a young man who volunteered to serve his country in uniform at a time of war. That, in and of itself, is a very honorable thing."

MEANTIME A NEW REUTERS POLL SHOWS: 78% BELIEVE THE U-S SHOULD MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO RECOVER PRISONERS OF WAR BUT ONLY 29% THINK TRADING TALIBAN PRISONERS FOR BERGDAHL WAS THE "RIGHT THING TO DO."

"The worst thing for the White House at this point is the clock is ticking. Every day he spends talking about an issue he doesn't want to talk about is a day that's lost to talk about something that he wants to achieve or some part of his legacy that he wants to burnish before he leaves office." FORECAST-WXWALL

WX RUNDOWN:

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

SEABREEZE STORMS EXPECTED MONDAY

Widespread showers and thunderstorms have again popped up across the interior ranges of the Florida peninsula today. As the evening progresses, it's possible a few of these showers or storms may try to retreat closer toward the Interstate 75 corridor bringing the chance for some rain and thunder activity closer to the larger cities in Southwest Florida tonight.

Coverage of any storms that are able to move through areas west of Interstate 75 should be quite isolated, keeping most backyards dry. However, any storm that is active tonight will come with the potential for locally heavy rain, brief strong wind gusts and frequent lightning.

A rather typical weather pattern for June will set up shop for the upcoming weekend with a good chance of scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms during the late afternoon and early evening time frames each of the next upcoming days. The storms will be firing along the seabreeze interaction, meaning the interior sections of the state look to bear the brunt of the activity into the early days of the work week.

Temperatures look warm and seasonal for the next several days. High temperatures will consistently max out in the low 90s for daytime highs with overnight lows retreating into the low 70s.
