FIRST WEATHER-HTC

FIRST WEATHERRain chances this evening

Showers and thunderstorms have been developing across areas east of Interstate 75 on Monday afternoon. Through this evening, the potential for a few showers or isolated thunderstorms to drift back toward the coastal communities of Southwest Florida will exist. However the overall coverage of rain along the US 41 corridor is expected to remain isolated.

Once again on Tuesday the chance for sea breeze induced showers and thunderstorms will exist, but again the risk will be greatest for areas east of the interstate. Temperatures look to top out in the low 90s, near 92 degrees at Fort Myers by mid-afternoon on Tuesday.

The overall pattern for the rest of the week will feature rain chances, but again the areas experiencing the most widespread coverage should remain for the inland regions of Collier, Lee and Charlotte Counties. That risk then would be more widespread across locations in Hendry, Glades and DeSoto Counties.

Afternoon temperatures this week look to rise into the low 90s most afternoon with lows in the low to mid 70s early of the next several nights. Return to index of stories...

GOV SCOTT TUITION-PKG

Hi nice to see you again!

TODAY GOVERNOR RICK SCOTT CHOSE A RESTAURANT NEAR F-G-C-U AS THE SITE TO LAUNCH A NEW STATE-WIDE TOUR.

This is why we're worried about tuition.

HE USED HIS GRANDSON AS A VISUAL AID AS WHY THE STATE NEEDS TO HOLD THE LINE ON TUITION. HOUSE SPEAKER WILL WEATHERFORD JOINED THE GOVERNOR ON THE CAMPAIGN TRIAL.

and what he asked us to do before session started was to find a way to

make a university and college education affordable again in the state

of Florida.

A NEW LAW STOPS AUTOMATIC TUITION INCREASES PUT IN PLACE DURING THE STATE'S RECESSION. THIS MEANS THE COST TO ATTEND F-G-C-U WON'T GO UP NEXT YEAR.

It's about education. It's about making these students dreams come

true. and the only way to make these dreams come true is to make it

affordable. IT REPEALS THE POWER OF UNIVERSITIES TO RAISE TUITION ABOVE THE RATE SET STATE LAWMAKERS.

Charlie Crist raised tuition every year he was in office. He passed

legislation that allowed it to up 15% a year. 15% a year. Think

about that for a typical family.

THE CHARLIE CRIST CAMP FIRED BACK WITH THIS STATEMENT: "I'M SURE FLORIDIANS ARE HAPPY THERE IS AN ELECTION COMING UP, OTHERWISE RICK SCOTT WOULD HAVE CONTINUED HIS CUTS TO EDUCATION AND HIS ASSAULT ON BRIGHT FUTURES SCHOLARSHIPS."

TODAY I SPOKE LIVE WITH GOVERNOR SCOTT ON OUR NOON SHOW. I ASKED HIM ABOUT A CONTROVERSIAL PART OF THE NEW LAW THAT GIVES UNDOCUMENTED STUDENTS IN-STATE TUITION.

"If you grew up in our state, you should have the same tuition as your peers. I want to have everybody in our state to have the same shot at the

dream that I had." Return to index of stories...

GOVERNOR SCOTT CAMPAIGNED HARD AGAINST ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION WHEN HE WAS RUNNING FOR OFFICE 4 YEARS AGO.
