19:13:56 I was shocked, disappointed and just mad. 19:14:01

JUST A FEW OF THE FEELINGS EXPRESSED BY BOARD MEMBER DON ARMSTRONG A DAY AFTER LEARNING MORE THAN 40% OF SCHOOLS MISSED OR DID NOT REPORT AT LEAST ONE FIRE DRILL IN THE LAST TWO SCHOOL YEARS.

SOT - Don Armstrong - Lee School Board Member

19:14:55 we have administrators that are supposed to be on top of this at all times. We're talking people that make six figures annually and somebody's dropped the ball, shameful. 19:15:07

THEN WE SHOWED HIM THESE EMERGENCY REVIEW REPORTS SCHOOLS MUST FILE AFTER A DRILL.

THEY SHOW HOW MANY KIDS PARTICIPATED.

ORANGE RIVER ELEMENTARY DID A DRILL WITH JUST 27 KIDS.

AT SPRING CREEK ELEMENTARY - 14 STUDENTS IN THIS DRILL.

AND AT TREELINE ELEMENTARY, WITH ALMOST 1,000 STUDENTS - JUST ONE KID TOOK PART.

SOT - Don Armstrong - Lee School Board Member

19:20:03 this is unacceptable, I won't tolerate this from any superintendent, any administrator, this is our kids safety. 19:20:12

DR. NANCY GRAHAM PROMISES THINGS WILL CHANGE.

SOT - Dr. Nancy Graham - Superintendent

16:50:19 we're also going to lay out the expectation that there are consequences if you fail to follow the expectations. 16:50:25

ARMSTRONG QUESTIONS IF THE CONSEQUENCES WILL BE STRONG ENOUGH.

SOT - Don Armstrong - Lee School Board Member

19:14:13 this boils down to accountability, point blank just accountability. Somebody needs to be held accountable. 19:14:20

ARMSTRONG DOESN'T HAVE FIRING POWER BUT WHEN ASKED IF HE COULD…

SOT - Don Armstrong - Lee School Board Member

19:17:15 on my personal behalf yeah, I wouldn't have a problem doing it, but again I'm not in charge of these personnel, that's the superintendent's job. 19:17:22 Return to index of stories...

RICKE KRESS IS THE PRESIDENT OF SOUTHERN GARDEN CITRUS -- A JOB HE STARTED IN 2005, THE SAME YEAR THIS DISEASE WAS FOUND IN HIS GROVES --

THE DISEASE, A BACTERIA, IS SPREAD BY THIS BUG -- THE ASIAN CITRUS PSYLLID, AS COMMON AS THE MOSQUITO IN FLORIDA --

DR SALVATORE LACAGNINE WITH THE LEE MEMORIAL HEALTH SYSTEM SAYS THE JURY IS STILL OUT ON GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOOD --

MORE INDEPENDENT RESEARCH NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE HE BELIEVES PEOPLE SHOULD EAT IT --

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

Most of today's storms have moved well inland toward Southeast Florida, leaving Southwest Florida under a partly cloudy sky and temperatures in the upper 80s.

As we head into the evening and overnight period, we'll leave the door open for a couple of isolated downpours. Otherwise, expect a partly to mostly cloudy sky with lows settling into the mid 70s.

The winds continue coming in from the Gulf through the overnight into our Thursday morning, a setup that typically brings in some isolated downpours from the Gulf during the morning and midday time frame.

To make our forecast even more interesting, an upper-air disturbance dropping in from the Gulf will enhance the potential for showers and thunderstorms by the late morning and early afternoon, particularly closer to the coast and urban corridor.

A few of these storms could be strong, producing torrential rain, intense lightning and gusty winds.

As we progress through the afternoon, the storms will migrate deeper inland toward the Florida east coast. However, it's still possible to get some isolated thunderstorms closer to coast during the late afternoon and evening.

Friday we begin to transition back into more of a "typical" rainy season pattern, but with an onshore flow still in place, a few showers could still develop by the mid to late morning. The afternoon storms will tend to build deeper inland.

The weekend will be quite characteristic for mid June with a mix of sun and clouds along with our daily dose of scattered storms during the mid to late afternoon. Highs will reach the low to mid 90s, and overnight temperatures will cool into the mid 70s.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
