5:00 WEATHER LEAD-WX CTR

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

After quite the stormy afternoon yesterday, we're on track to see another round of afternoon storms to start off the week

The morning will stay sunny, dry, and warm. We start the morning in the low to mid 70s, and temperatures will climb quickly with plenty of sunshine in place. By midday, temps will be approaching 90 degrees, and most of Southwest Florida will end up topping out in the low to mid 90s through the afternoon.

Isolated storms will start to pop by the mid afternoon, and these storms will keep building and expanding through the late afternoon and into the evening. Now that our winds have become more easterly, the sea breeze won't be able to work as far inland, which will keep the highest rain chances closer to the coast and along the urban corridor. The prime time for rain for most of us will be from 3-6 p.m.

After the rain fades close to sunset, expect partial clearing with lows dropping into the low to mid 70s through the overnight period.

We'll rinse and repeat this forecast Tuesday with the highest rain chances again staying along to the urban corridor.

An increase in moisture levels by mid week should result in a greater coverage of afternoon storms Wednesday through Friday, but the mornings will stay sunny and mostly dry. Like the first half of the week, storms will tend to develop closer to the coast.

Afternoon highs each day this week will reach the low to mid 90s, and overnight lows will settle into the low to mid 70s.

5:30 WEATHER LEAD-WX WALL

Tropical Update

Halfway through the month of June, the tropics remain quiet, and no tropical systems are expected to organize over the next several days. Return to index of stories...
