5:00 WEATHER LEAD-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Today should make four days in a row without significant rain developing across Southwest Florida, setting us up to see another hot and mostly sunny day.

Sunshine will be prevalent from the morning into the afternoon, and temperatures will rise sharply through the day with highs peaking in the low to mid 90s for most of the region.

The few storms that do form today should stay deep inland near Lake Okeechobee and Alligator Alley.

Even though we'll see mainly dry weather today, there's still plenty of humidity packed into our atmosphere, which will make the air feel several degrees warmer.

Winds will be westerly today around 5-110 mph.

Rain chances will gradually make a comeback through the course of the week. Some isolated storms will develop Wednesday afternoon but mainly over interior sections of the peninsula.

The uptick in rain chances will be more noticeable by Thursday and Friday as a few storms develop a little closer to the coast.

With plenty of sunshine expected for the remainder of the week, temperatures will stay hot yet seasonable with highs in the low to mid 90s and lows close to the mid 70s.

Tropical Update

The Atlantic basin still looks free of any kind of tropical development, and we should see a quiet conclusion to the month of June in the Gulf, Caribbean, and Atlantic. Return to index of stories...
