FIRST WEATHER-STC

STORM THREAT CONTINUES

Strong storms and heavy rainfall rolled through parts of the Urban Corridor Thursday, resulting in some minor flooding. The showers and storms will continue to diminish this evening as temps fall into the 70s. An isolated sprinkle is still possible overnight, with lows in the mid 70s.

More storms are expected on Friday. Some Saharan dust is also expected to move into the area late in the day. This dust will reduce the coverage of showers and storms in the region.

However, the dust may also result in strong storms with activity that does develop. Highs on Friday will be in the low 90s.

The Saharan dust looks to exit on Saturday. Again, coverage of showers and storms may be lower than average, with highs on Saturday holding in the low 90s.

The dust is long gone by Sunday. This will result in a return to more typical July weather. We'll see plenty of sun in the morning hours, with scattered storms developing in the afternoon. Highs on Sunday will be in the low 90s.

The stormy weather pattern looks to continue into next week, with AM sunshine and PM storms likely. Highs next week look to stay in the low 90s.

TROPICAL UPDATE

It remains very quiet in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and the open waters of the Atlantic. Two areas of Saharan dust will keep a lid on any activity over the next week.

No major activity is expected over the next 5 days. Return to index of stories...

LITTLE TRUETT IS ALMOST A WEEK OLD AND WAS TWO WEEKS OVERDUE WHEN KRISTIN DICKERSON'S WATER FINALLY BROKE LAST SATURDAY.

"By the time we hit the Sweetwater exit, I was pretty sure we weren't going to make it to the hospital."

AND THAT'S WHAT EXACTLY YOU CAN HEAR HER SCREAMING IN GOPRO VIDEO RECORDED ON THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL.

SPEEDING, HER HUSBAND TROY MADE IT TO TEXAS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, BUT THEY DIDN'T MAKE IT INSIDE. THAT'S RIGHT, LITTLE TRUETT CAME INTO THIS WORLD, RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE VALET ENTRANCE, KRISTIN BARELY MAKING IT OUT OF THE CAR.

"She had gotten out of the car and just froze, like stood there. And me and the valet guy were both saying 'Get in the car, alright no, not get in the car, but sit down in the wheelchair! Sit down in the wheelchair! We're going to get you upstairs.'"

"That's who I felt the worst for was the poor valet guy cause he was going 'miss please, sit down just sit down.' And I said no, no."

THANKFULLY, TROY WAS THERE TO CATCH TRUETT. HE WAS BORN JUST AS HOSPITAL STAFF RAN OUTSIDE.

"KRISTIN DICKERSON WAS WELL PREPARED FOR TRUETT'S BIRTH. SHE WORKS AS A CHILDBIRTH EDUCATOR BUT SHE SAYS THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A STORY SHE'S GOING TO BE SHARING WITH HER STUDENTS."

"I tell my students, 'This will never happen to you, I promise this is not going to happen to you.' But I do teach them about emergency birth just so they'll be prepared for it, and it can take some of the fear out of it."

TRUETT IS NOW AT HOME WITH HIS TWO OLDER BROTHERS TURNER AND TILLMAN. BECAUSE HE'D BEEN THROUGH THIS BEFORE, TROY THOUGHT THEY HAD ENOUGH TIME TO GET TO THE HOSPITAL. PUTTING ON HIS GO PRO, HE THOUGHT HE'D GET SOME OF THE EXCITEMENT ALONG THE WAY, NEVER EXPECTING TO FILM A VALET BIRTH.

"It'll be a great story for years to come to tell Truett and his big brothers so it's pretty cool." Return to index of stories...
