THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS

Our winds will come from the west and southwest Tuesday, even during the morning hours. This setup is called "onshore flow" and when it happens it changes the weather pattern and when we expect rain in Southwest Florida.

This morning, thanks to winds coming from the Gulf of Mexico, we'll have the chance for seeing showers and even a few thunderstorms as we finish the morning and through the midday time frame. THE NAME ALONE IS QUESTIONABLE.

THE VAMPIRE FACIAL,

OR "BLOOD FACIAL."

"Some people thinks it's gory. I think it's catchy."

SO, WHAT IS IT?

IT'S A FACIAL USING A PATIENTS OWN BLOOD PLATELETS,

TO HELP HEAL TISSUE AND REGENERATE CELLS.

FIRST, NUMBING CREAM IS APPLIED.

"Patients don't feel any pain from the micro needle."

THEN, BLOOD IS DRAWN AND PUT THROUGH THIS MACHINE,

SEPARATING THE RED AND WHITE BLOOD CELLS FROM THE PLATELETS,

TURNING INTO A YELLOWISH COLOR.

NOW COMES THE SKIN PIN.

"It's electric and it has 10-12 little needles that come out of it all at once."

IN VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL PASSES, THE SKIN PIN CAUSES PIN-POINT BLEEDING,

ALLOWING THE PLASMA RICH PLATELETS, OR P-R-P, TO SEEP INTO THE SKIN.

"I can feel it a little bit, but it's not bad at all."

IT TAKES ABOUT FOUR WEEKS

WITHOUT ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS FOR THE PLATELETS TO SIT ON THE SKIN AND MULTIPLY, THEN COMES THE BENEFITS.

"Can see a reduction in brown spots, reduction in pore size, overall skin brightness, skin health is better after PRP."

SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO AFTER A DAY OR SO OF REDNESS.

"It's not that I want to look like I'm in my 20's or even in my 40's, it's just that I want to feel and be the best that I can be." Return to index of stories...

FIRST WEATHER-WX-ANIBOXES

Downpours in the Gulf of Mexico will work their way onshore. Though many of these areas of rain will weaken once they get on land, you'll want to keep this in mind if you're outside later this morning.

Our onshore wind flow pattern will stay in play through Thursday. This means we stand the chance for some rain in the morning each of the next few days, with only isolated chances in the afternoon. In terms of coverage, our afternoon rain chances will be most abundant for communities along and east of I-75.

Temperatures this week look seasonally warm. Highs are expected in the low 90s through Thursday. Then they will go back up closer to the mid 90s by Friday.

TROPICAL UPDATE

EVERYBODY EATS. BUT *WHAT* WE EAT AND *WHEN* WE EAT IS SHIFTING. AND THAT'S KEEPING GROCERS ON THEIR TOES WHEN IT COMES TO OFFERING THE RIGHT PRODUCTS AT THE RIGHT PRICE.

"The consumer is moving from one desire after the other the food retailer has got to be prepared to move very quickly as those demand from that customer happen, or change, they gotta be able to react quickly to get the product and services to keep up with it."

ORGANIC, GLUTEN FREE, NON-GMO, LESS SODIUM AND PROTEIN-PACKED… CONSUMERS' CRAVING FOR "HEALTHY" HAS SHAKEN UP THE SNACK FOODS AISLE AND HELPED SOME COMPANIES STAND OUT.

DIAMOND FOODS, MAKER OF PROTEIN-PACKED NUT MIXES LIKE EMERALD BRAND AND DIAMOND OF CALIFORNIA, SAW ITS SNACK SEGMENT REVENUES GROW ALMOST 10 PERCENT LAST QUARTER.

DIAMOND'S KETTLE BRAND CHIPS ALSO LAND ON MANY "TOP HEALTH SNACK" LISTS.

HAIN CELESTIAL, BOULDER BRANDS AND ANNIES ARE OTHER PLAYERS OFFERING ORGANIC, GLUTEN-FREE FOODS THAT RBC CAPITAL MARKET'S ANALYST DAVID PALMER COUNTS AS WINNERS.

".the natural and organic space is on fire. It's never been a better time to be in business in natural and organic from a demand perspective"

"Over the last few years, consumers' shift from 3 standard meals per day, to smaller more frequent meals. is fueling snack sales. and the key millennial demographic is also particularly interested in fast, fresh, healthy, farm-to-table options. spurring more trips to local grocery stores like this one, instead of national supermarkets."

STRAIGHT-FROM-THE-FARM FOOD OPTIONS ARE PARAMOUNT FOR GROCERY STORE PROFITS. CONSUMERS ARE WILLING TO PAY A PREMIUM, BUT ONLY TO A POINT. ACCORDING TO A P-W-C REPORT 67% OF CONSUMERS SAY COMPETITIVE PRICES ARE STILL A FACTOR WHEN IT COMES TO WHERE TO SHOP -- WITH 47% SEEKING OUT FARMER'S MARKET OPTIONS WITHIN THE STORE.
