Last year Cypress Lake High School's head football coach was fired, and the school was forced to pay thousands of dollars in fines for this football game brawl.

The school's recently resigned principal Tracy Perkins was not at the away game.

A move she says she was scrutinized for in a letter she provided to the district Friday.

Football nats

In that letter dated November 20th of last year Perkins says it is ridiculously insulting that by missing one game her commitment to colleagues and the district was questioned.

She said instances like this are not violations but rather a result of months of bullying and harassment.

The 14 page letter goes on to say in her 19 years with the district she has a close to impeccable professional record.

Which NBC 2 found to be true in our investigation.

Only finding two pages of warnings out her 100 page file.

DEP LAWSUIT OIL SHEEN CANAL-BNR-PKG

AN OILY CANAL IS THE LAST THING COLLIER COUNTY ENVIRONMENTALISTS WANTED TO FIND OUT ABOUT FRIDAY.

Karen Dwyer, Stone Crab Alliance

:13:10-:13

This is exactly what we were worried about from the start, contamination of our water.

IN THESE 60 PAGES OF LEGAL DOCUMENTS, THE DEP DESCRIBES THE DISTUBRING DISCOVERY.

IT HAPPENED MONDAY DURING AN INSPECTION AT THIS OIL DRILLING SITE IN NORTHERN COLLIER COUNTY.

AGENCY OFFICIALS SAY THEY FOUND AN UNPERMITTED DUMPSTER.

INSIDE WERE HOSES, BUCKETS, AND PIECES OF LINER COVERED IN OIL.

AND THEY SAY THAT DUMPSTER WAS LEAKING INTO A NEARBY CANAL.

THAT HAS THE CONSERVANCY OF SWFL WORRIED WHERE THE BODY OF WATER LEADS TO.

Jennifer Hecker, Conservancy of SWFL

02:16-:23

That's where we swim and we fish. Eventually these canals meet up with rivers, and bays, and beach areas that people like to recreate in.

WE ASKED FOR PICTURES.

BUT THE DEP SAYS IT CAN'T GIVE THEM TO US BECAUSE THEY'RE PART OF ITS LAWSUIT AGAINST THE DAN A HUGHES COMPANY.

COLLIER COUNTY COMMISSIONER GEORGIA HILLER DOESN'T AGREE.

28:44-:46

ME- It's a matter of public safety.

Hiller-

And it's a matter of public record.

BUTT TO

26:51-:56

The people have a right to see it, so if they have photographs I think we should have a right to see those.

BESIDES KICKING HUGHES OUT OF FLORIDA, THE STATE WANTS THE COMPANY TO PAY MORE THAN 100 THOUSAND DOLLARS IN CIVIL PENALTIES.

HUGHES OFFICIALS STILL MAINTAIN THEY'VE DONE NOTHING WRONG.

ULTIMATELY THAT WILL BE UP TO A JUDGE TO DECIDE.

KAREN

17:33-:39

There might be some skeptics saying this is just the DEP covering themselves and indeed they might just be covering themselves.

IN COLLIER COUNTY, BRYAN ANDERSON, NBC2. Return to index of stories...

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

WARM TEMPS TO DOMINATE THE WEEKEND

Warm temperatures and reduced coverage of rain on Saturday highlight the upcoming weekend forecast across Southwest Florida.

On Saturday, a wedge of somewhat drier air will continue to be over the Florida peninsula, cutting back on the coverage of rain across the state. Though an isolated shower or thunderstorm will be remain possible, it appears most backyards in the region will trend to stay on the dry side through Saturday afternoon.

Though the coverage of rain will be below what's seasonal for July in Southwest Florida tomorrow, temperatures will be warmer than what's typical for this time of year. The average high temperature at Fort Myers is 92 degrees for this time of year. On Saturday though, temps at their warmest are expected to be closer to the mid 90s, with expected highs approaching 94 degrees at Fort Myers.

Inland areas of the state could see afternoon temps approach the mid to upper 90s just after lunchtime on Saturday.

On Sunday, we will have a more favorable weather setup to allow conditions yielding late afternoon and early evening sea breeze induced showers and storms. Highs should continue to top out just warmer than average, with temps near 93 degrees.

For the upcoming work week, showers and thunderstorms look likely in the afternoon for Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures should max out in the low to mid 90s in the afternoon.

TROPICAL UPDATE

Tropical weather conditions are generally quiet across the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico. There are no tropical features in play at this time, and no organization of any tropical activity is expected through the course of the next three to five days. Return to index of stories...
