Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

A FEW DOWNPOURS TODAY

Onshore winds will again bring scattered activity in coastal areas this morning. More activity will be possible this afternoon, with the best chance for activity in areas east of I-75. Highs today will be in the low 90s.

Changes to the weather pattern begin on Friday. Winds will shift to the southeast and east to close the work week, ending the coastal threat for AM rain. The winds will also provide a better chance for PM storms in the Urban Corridor, with highs in the low 90s. It will be more like what you probably expect in early August.

More moisture will enter the area for the weekend, increasing the threat for scattered activity. The best chance for rain will be in the PM hours both Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the low 90s.

The moisture remains in place on Monday, before slightly drier air is expected to roll in by Tuesday. Temperatures will stay low 90s into next week.

TROPICAL UPDATE

We are still keeping a very close eye on a disturbance sitting in the Atlantic between the Lesser Antilles and the west coast of Africa. After taking a little bit of a break yesterday, this area has shown a bit of strengthening through the night. The National Hurricane Center is now putting the risk of development in the next couple of days at 60%; the same for the the next 5 days, too.

The disturbance is still expected to move west and eventually curving northwestward. Right now, it does not look like it will be impacting Florida.

Elsewhere, weak tropical waves are developing in the Atlantic but no major activity is expected over the next 5 days. Return to index of stories...

5:30 WEATHER LEAD-WX WALL
