That was probably one of the worst I've seen.

IT'S AN EARLY MORNING FOR NAPLES TOW TRUCK DRIVER JOE NAGY.

FOLLOWING A LATE NIGHT SPENT RESCUING STRANDED DRIVERS.

THIS WAS THE SCENE ALL OVER COLLIER COUNTY MONDAY.

HUNDREDS OF VEHICLES -- DEAD IN THE WATER.

---SOT---

JOE NAGY, TOW TRUCK DRIVER

Joe Nagy, tow company owner

It was very busy with the rain. We probably did about 15 sunk cars under water.

TUESDAY HE PICKED UP TWO CARS IN THE WINDERMERE COMMUNITY.

DAVID NOURSE SAYS HE ALMOST MADE IT HOME WHEN HIS MERCEDES STALLED.

20:39:38-:48

From the outside this 2013 Nissan Altima looks completely fine, but when I open this door, you can see why it's probably totaled. The water line came up above the seats. The driver's side window also won't open because the windows are ruined.

---SOT---

---SOT---

Frank Cersosimo, Bob Taylor Chevrolet Mechanic

20:28:48-:57

It can't run on water, so it hydrolocks the motor, and then it's catastrophic engine failure.

And when you say catastrophic?

It needs an engine, thousands of dollars.

Wow.

HE SAYS EVEN IF YOUR CAR MAKES IT THROUGH A FLOODED ROAD, IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU'RE IN THE CLEAR.

20:29:26-:30

You're going to have problems with connectivity and the rest of it. You're just looking at thousands of dollars.

THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY THESE DRIVERS WOULD NEVER HAVE TO SPEND HAD THEY ERRD ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

FORECAST: Less rain expected Wednesday

Compliments of an onshore westerly wind flow, scattered showers and thunderstorms were able to impact areas of Lee and Charlotte Counties this morning with some locally heavy rainfall. Doppler radar-estimates place between.5" and 2" of rain early today in parts of northern Cape Coral, North Fort Myers and Punta Gorda.

This afternoon though, conditions are notably quieter. Though we will need to account for the chance of an shower or storm tonight, we will finish the day with far less activity than we had when it started.

On Wednesday expect more of a northwest wind flow early in the day. That means the morning hours are expected to be drier than how Tuesday morning was. Through the mid-day hours a passing shower or storm is possible along the US41 corridor. With the seabreeze coming onshore from the Gulf of Mexico, the majority of any showers or storms on Wednesday afternoon would be expected along and east of the I-75 corridor.

Temperatures on Wednesday should be warmer and more seasonal than today. Highs are likely to reach 93 at Fort Myers, 90 at Naples and 94 at Lehigh Acres.

Late afternoon and early evening showers and storms are expected Thursday and Friday with highs topping out in the low to mid 90s.

TROPICAL UPDATE

Tropical Storm Bertha continues to churn off the east coast of the United States but poses to theat to mainland North America.

Data shows the storm is moving north-northeast at 22 mph. Maximum sustained winds are still at 60 mph, but the movement of Bertha keeps it away from major land masses.

As the storm moves generally parallel with the eastern American coast it is expected to continue weakening as it advances into the northern Atlantic Ocean.

No other tropical cyclones are active in the Gulf, Caribbean or Atlantic. Return to index of stories...

TODAY - COUNTY STAFF ADDRESSED THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM WITH LEE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.

WHY THEY ARE REVISITING THE COUNTY'S NEW ANIMAL ORDINANCE AFTER IT WAS TENTATIVELY APPROVED BACK IN MAY.

the last thing we want to do is have something on our books that our department can't enforce. So it's important to have something that has meat to it.

none if what is there - the chipping and breeder certification, can really be enforced.

BUT CRITIC CHRISTINA CRAWFIS SAYS THE ENTIRE ISSUE SHOULD BE TABLED -
