GOOD MORNING-2SHOT

GOOD MORNING.

I'M CLAY MILLER.

I'M STACEY DEFFENBAUGH.

LETS START WITH CHIEF METEOROLOGIST HALEY WEBB AND YOUR FIRST ALERT FORECAST.

5:00 WEATHER LEAD-WX WALL

Today's Weather Story

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Another Round of Storms Possible Friday

With a light onshore wind direction Friday, any showers and storms that do get going will be primarily inland like Thursday. Also, activity looks to be pretty isolated through the day.

Nothing else out of the ordinary to wrap up the work week here in Southwest Florida. Expect high temperatures to top out right around 92° or 93° again this afternoon.

A sneak peek at the weekend.

Both Saturday & Sunday will be hot and humid with highs running a few degrees above the normal. Each day rain chances will be possible farther inland, leaving most coastal areas pretty dry - beach plans are a go.

Some drier air pushes into the region early next week which will keep rain chances lower than normal Monday and possibly Tuesday too. Return to index of stories...

C43 PROJECT ON HOLD-trxVOTOPS SS

A WATER QUALITY PROJECT TO KEEP OUR SHORELINE CLEAN IS ON HOLD.

WORK WAS SUPPOSED TO BEGIN ON THE C-43 RESERVOIR THIS OCTOBER.

IT'S BEING PUSHED BACK UNTIL NEXT FEBRUARY.

FRESH WATER RELEASES FROM LAKE OKEECHOBEE WILL BE DIVERTED TO THE RESERVOIR IN HENDRY COUNTY.

SOUTH FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT SAYS ENGINEERS NEED MORE TIME TO STUDY TO PROJECT.

.NBC-2'S ALEX DE ARMAS JOINS US LIVE WITH THE DETAILS.

ALEX. Return to index of stories...

C43 PROJECT ON HOLD-REM

ON CAM

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A PROJECT THAT WILL IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF FRESHWATER FLOWS FROM LAKE OKEECHOBEE TO THE CALOOSAHATCHEE RIVER AND ESTUARY.

TOO LITTLE OR TOO MUCH WATER FROM LAKE O IS BAD-- AFFECTING MARINE LIFE. Return to index of stories...

C43 PROJECT ON HOLD-vo-cg

DURING RAINY SEASON-- when LAKE OKEECHOBEE GETS FULL-- much of that WATER WILL BE GOING TO THE C-43 Reservoir INSTEAD OF DIRECTLY TO THE RIVER which ends up in the gulf.

The C43 REsERVOIR land has been owned by the government since 2000.

It's part of a long-term Everglades restoration plan.Instead of letting the land sit vacant, they're putting it to good use.

WORK ON THE C-43 RESERVOIR HAS BEEN PUSHED BACK UNTIL NEXT FEBRUARY.

some may argue its BECAUSE THIS RAINY SEASON WASN'T AS BAD AS LAST YEAR and the pressure for a solution has been lifted slightly.

BUT SOUTH FLORIDA WATER MANAGEMENT SAYS the reason is.ENGINEERS NEED MORE TIME TO STUDY THE PROJECT.

THERE IS A PUBLIC MEETING AND COMMUNITY FORUM ABOUT OUR WATER QUALITY TODAY.

IT'S LATER THIS AFTERNOON AT RIVERSIDE COMMUNITY CENTER IN FORT MYERS AT 1PM.

COUNT ON NBC-2 TO BE THERE.
