CHILLY WEEK AHEAD, WINDY THROUGH WEDNESDAY

P. M. Update - Tonight will continue to be cloudy with some areas of light rain and mist. Lows will be cool, falling into the 40's and low 50's. A Windchill Advisory is in place for DeSoto County overnight as windchill values could drop into the low 30s.

**Boaters - A Small Craft Advisory will remain in place from now through Tuesday night as conditions on local waterways will be very rough due to strong winds.**

Tuesday afternoon skies will remain cloudy with a few light rain showers. Expect a windy day with gusts up to 30 mph. Highs will only make it into the low to mid 60s, meaning it will feel like a pretty cool day.

Wednesday will remain breezy and cloudy with a few showers early, but expect some clearing late in the day. Highs will still only make it into the mid 60s. By Wednesday night and Thursday morning, lows will drop into the upper 30s and low 40s.

Thursday afternoon we will see the return of plenty of sunshine, along with slightly less wind. Highs will remain well below average, only topping out in the upper 50s and low 60s. Another cold night is in store for Thursday night and Friday morning, with lows in the 30s inland, and low 40s near the coast.

R: So people should expect to have their money back by December 31st?

A: Yes 9:37:58

THE NBC-2 INVESTIGATORS ARE FOLLOWING UP ON A BROKEN PROMISE TONIGHT.

CAROLYN 7:29:06 had the rug pulled out from under us:08

THAT'S BECAUSE THEIR TRAVEL AGENCY CALLED LEGENDARY JOURNEYS ABRUPTLY CLOSED ITS DOORS IN NOVEMBER -- LEAVING CUSTOMERS HIGH AND DRY

CAROLYN 18:28 kind of in disbelief that this could have happened:30

EVENTUALLY -- THE NBC-2 INVESTIGATORS TRACKED DOWN THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY, AL FERGUSON, WHO AGREED TO AN INTERVIEW.

9:33:24 R: Where is the money that customers paid you?

AL 9:33:27 Well, in various places 9:33:29

FLORIDA'S MINIMUM WAGE IS GOING UP.

BUT NOT BY MUCH.THE PAY FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE IN FLORIDA TICKED UP 15 CENTS AN HOUR TODAY.FROM 8.10 TO 8.25.

FOR TIPPED EMPLOYEES-

THEIR WAGE WILL GO UP TO 5.23 AN HOUR.

NBC2'S BRENNA WEICK LOOKED INTO THE DEBATE OVER WHETHER THE MINIMUM WAGE SHOULD GO UP DRAMATICALLY HIGHER. Return to index of stories...

MINIMUM WAGE-CONTROL ROOM

15 CENTS SOUNDS LIKE A MINISCULE AMOUNT--

BUT THIS HOURLY INCREASE MEANS FULL TIME MINIMUM WAGE WORKERS--

WOULD EARN ABOUT THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS *MORE* THAN THEY DID LAST YEAR. Return to index of stories...

MINIMUM WAGE-PKG

SOME SAY WAGE INCREASES - NO MATTER HOW SMALL - ARE A SLIPPERY SLOPE.

25:00 you know it doesn't sound like much but then you keep going up and up and up where does it end 04

BUT THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY IS *REQUIRED* BY STATE LAW TO ADJUST EACH YEAR'S MINIMUM WAGE BASED ON THE FEDERAL CONSUMER PRICE INDEX.

THIS YEAR'S CALCULATIONS LED TO AN ALMOST TWO PERCENT INCREASE.

24:46 problem is if we keep raising it nobody wants to leave those entry positions 51

SUPPORTERS SAY MINIMUM WAGE WORKERS DESERVE MORE THAN A FIFTEEN CENT INCREASE.

37:22 some people really do deserve that money 24 I mean they work their butts off 26 and get paid nothing 29

EVEN SAYING THEY WOULD SUPPORT A MINIMUM WAGE OF FIFTEEN *DOLLARS*

37:33 if they've earned it then definitely absolutely 36

BUT CRITICS ARGUE THAT ONLY TEENAGERS SHOULD WORK IN MINIMUM WAGE POSITIONS.

25:13 seems to me the problem is now that we're depending on this minimum to support families 18 and that's not what it was designed for 20

SAYING A FIFTEEN DOLLAR MINIMUM WAGE WOULD BE BAD FOR EVERYONE.

25:33 how do you pay a guy fifteen dollars to put milk in a bag at a grocery store 36 and not think that the milk is gonna go up 38

WORRYING THAT A RATE AS HIGH AS FIFTEEN DOLLARS WOULD BE DEVASTATING TO LOCAL BUSINESSES

34:36 I get concerned a little bit about the business perspective 39

BUTT TO

35:10 it's kinda really hard to pay fifteen bucks an hour for somebody just to slap an address on an envelope 17 Return to index of stories...

KIM JONG UN DID TALK ABOUT THE UNITED STATES ABOUT WHAT HE CALLED ITS NUCLEAR THREATS, SAYING THAT HIS COUNTRY NOW HAS A DETERRENCE IN THE FORM OF ITS OWN NUCLEAR ARSENAL, SAYING THAT HIS COUNTRY WOULD NOT STRIKE FIRST BUT WOULD RETALIATE IF ATTACKED.

IT'S EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO VERIFY THESE CLAIMS OF A WORKING NUCLEAR ARSENAL IN THE HANDS OF NORTH KOREA. THE COUNTRY HAS CARRIED OUT 15 BALLISTIC MISSILE TESTS OVER THE LAST YEAR AND ITS STRONGEST YET NUCLEAR TEST BACK IN SEPTEMBER.

PERHAPS THE MOST SURPRISING PART OF THIS SPEECH, WAS THE MENTIONING OF THE OLYMPICS.
