ALLYSON: FIRST WEATHER-WXGFX

VERY CHILLY WEATHER CONTINUES

Temperatures averaged 10 to 15 degrees below normal today and we will continue that trend again tonight. Skies will be mostly cloudy this evening and the wind will be gusty from the north throughout the night. A few, very isolated, showers are possible as we start the day on Wednesday as an area of low pressure crosses the state. The temperatures are chilly and will stay below normal for the next 3 to 4 days.

The aforementioned low pressure area could even scare up a few flakes of snow on Wednesday, but this would be well north of Orlando. if it occurs. A few showers of rain will make for a gray and dreary day on Wednesday.

This cold snap will continue for the rest of week. By Friday morning we will run a good chance of widespread 30's for morning low temperatures. For your forward planning, it might be a good idea to cover sensitive plants on Friday morning. Return to index of stories...

INVESTIGATORS SAY THAT FIRE IN ORLANDO IS WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER PLUG SPACE HEATERS INTO POWER STRIPS.

MANY OF YOU PROBABLY HAVE SPACE HEATERS TURNED ON RIGHT NOW.

IF IT'S PLUGGED INTO A POWER STRIP. THE STRIP CAN OVERHEAT QUICKLY

AND WHEN IT COMES TO REGULAR HOME HEATING. REPLACE THE FILTER BEFORE TURNING IT ON.

THE DIRT AND DUST CAN CLOG THE AIR FLOW. AND CAUSE A FIRE.

ALSO DON'T BE SURPRISED IF YOU SMELL SOMETHING BURNING. Return to index of stories...

Bruce Mullins/Service Manager, Certified Heating & Cooling:

"When know a cold front is coming in, so you kind of don't get that smell, I recommend opening the windows and doors, turn the heater on for about 15 or 20 minutes to get that smell off, and once that smell is gone you won't have that smell anymore."

EXPERTS SAY THAT BURNING SMELL SHOULD GO AWAY IN LESS THAN A HALF HOUR.

IF IT DOESN'T, YOU SHOULD CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. Return to index of stories...

UCF BLITZ-OC

THE KNIGHTS NEVER HAD A CHANCE.

THE SYSTEM FAILED.

THIS ISN'T ABOUT THE COMMITTEE.

I DON'T FAULT THEM FOR LEAVING U-C-F OUT.

THE PROBLEM IS, THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE CHOICE.

YES, THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF IS MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT WE HAD BEFORE, BUT IT IS NOT AS GOOD AS IT NEEDS TO BE.

THE FIELD MUST BE EXPANDED, AND NOT JUST TO EIGHT TEAMS.

REMEMBER, THE KNIGHTS WERE RANKED 12TH.

EVEN WITH EIGHT, THEY STILL WOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN IN.

WHAT WE NEED IS 16 TEAMS – TEN CONFERENCE CHAMPS AND SIX AT-LARGE BIDS.

AND PLEASE, DON'T GIVE ME THIS NONSENSE ABOUT RUINING THE REGULAR SEASON.

YOU TRIED THAT BEFORE WE HAD A PLAYOFF, AND YOU WERE CLEARLY WRONG.

GIVE ME 16 TEAMS, INCLUDING ALL THE CONFERENCE CHAMPS, AND GIVE SCHOOLS LIKE U-C-F A CHANCE.

THAT'S THE BLITZ. Return to index of stories...
