49 This is my property and i want people to think nicely of me 53

DANNY DONEHOO IS PREPPING HIS YARD NOW TO LAST THROUGH THE COLD.

03:01:14 so we got our banana tree and we keep it nice and moist 18

03:00:01 they don't like the very very cold weather so what we do is we put water on the trees so that it will keep them from freezing over 09

LANDSCAPERS SAY TO START WATERING PLANTS NOW BEFORE IT GETS COOLER.

03:17:07 so we look at soaking the ground real heavy before you shut the irrigation off 11

SOMETHING SOLEDAD QUINONES WHO SPENDS A GOOD AMOUNT OF TIME MANICURING HER LAWN.

03:08:50 every week, atleast 2 hours 50

IS PLANNING TO DO.

03:11:51 usually we don't water them too much but if we know that the temperature will be low, because it will cause damage, it will be too much water, it will be more ice 58

EXPERTS SUGGEST SHUTTING THAT IRRIGATION OFF BEFORE THE TEMPERATURES DIP BELOW 40.

03:17:03 water running in these cold temperatures will ice the plant material create frost 07

AND WHEN TEMPERATURES GO BELOW 40, ITS TIME TO COVER PLANTS UP. BUT MAKE SURE TO USE A COTTON MATERIAL.

03:16:53 biggest thing we like to avoid is people using plastic cuz the cold will burn through the plastic and damage the plants, if not more 00

AND IF IT GETS EVEN COOLER.

03:11:27 if its gonna be 30, you will see the difference. But it will recuperate

RESIDENTS WILL BE READY, TO PROTECT THEIR INVESTMENT.

03:10:11 It looks nice and giving more value to the house you know 13 Return to index of stories...

TRUE BLUE FORT MYERS POLICE-PKG

MAYOR HENDERSON

001816 i think the councils role in this is to support his winning formula right now and that's what we're hoping to do

SUPPORT FOR CHIEF DERRICK DIGGS-- AS THE TRUE BLUE CAMPAIGN IS EXPECTED TO BE ANOTHER STEP FORWARD FOR THE FORT MYERS POLICE DEPARTMENT.

HENDERSON

001741 Chief Diggs has made wonderful strides in repairing restoring trust in law enforcement

COUNCILMAN JOHNNY STREETS

111831 it's an avenue of trying to restore trust and hope within the police department and community

COUNCILMAN JOHNNY STREETS EXPECTS TO LEARN MORE FROM THE DEPARTMENT'S PRESENATION-- BUT BOTH MEN EXPECT THE NEARLY 60-THOUSAND DOLLAR REQUEST FOR A "6" MONTH CAMPAIGN TO BE PART OF GOOD DIRECTION.

STREETS

111839 I'm optimistic and going to listen to what the presentation is all about

PEOPLE AROUND FORT MYERS KNOW THE DEPARTMENT PERCEPTION NEEDS A BOOST--

BUT WONDER IF THIS IS THE WAY TO FIX IT.

Vanessa Phillips/Lee Co Resident

111629 i think the money should be spent on things other than

billboards and advertising

Nancy Maloney/Lee Co Resident

111400 if the city really wants to make a difference i think we could

offer a lot more programs, mentoring programs for youth

THE IDEA-- TO IMPROVE THE IMAGE OF LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT--

THE "TRUE BLUE" CAMPAIGN PROMISES TO HIGHLIGHT THE SERVICE OF OFFICERS IN FORT MYERS--

PAIRED WITH A NEW WEBSITE AND IMPROVED SOCIAL MEDIA--

HENDERSON

001812 this is a critical move forward, he's making a lot of progress

BUT CITY LEADERS UNDERSTAND THERE'S MUCH MORE WORK TO BE DONE WHEN IT COMES TO RESTORYING TRUST.

STREETS

111914 we also need to look at reforming some of the issues within inside the police department

it's the council's responsibility to make sure that happens Return to index of stories...

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-ON CAM

VERY CHILLY WEATHER CONTINUES

Temperatures averaged 10 to 15 degrees below normal today and we will continue that trend again tonight. Skies will be mostly cloudy this evening and the wind will be gusty from the north throughout the night. A few, very isolated, showers are possible as we start the day on Wednesday as an area of low pressure crosses the state. The temperatures are chilly and will stay below normal for the next 3 to 4 days.

The aforementioned low pressure area could even scare up a few flakes of snow on Wednesday, but this would be well north of Orlando. if it occurs. A few showers of rain will make for a gray and dreary day on Wednesday.

This cold snap will continue for the rest of week. By Friday morning we will run a good chance of widespread 30's for morning low temperatures. For your forward planning, it might be a good idea to cover sensitive plants on Friday morning.

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

5120 disbelief, going what is going on, this is seconds, it was just crazy, you don't see stuff like that happen here

Simecek was found by Collier Deputies down the road. in a reported stolen car.

When deputies tried to stop the car. Simecek took off.

He drove away. going 90 miles per hour down busy Airport Pulling road.

5235 there could've been people out and about there could be some serious problems but we got lucky

When he tried to make a right onto Estey Avenue. he crashed his car over concrete barrier poles. over the bushes. and into the Blue Chevy.

5140 bad part about it is we've got a $33,000 truck that's just probably going to be totaled I would imagine

5245 hopefully he gets locked up forever, that's what I hope
