ALLYSON: FIRST WEATHER-WXGFX

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Temperatures will turn sharply cold tonight, and the wind will make it feel several degrees colder.

Morning lows Thursday will tumble into the low 40s in town and into the mid to upper 30s across our inland communities like Hendry and Glades County.

Wind chill values, however, will get down into the 30s and possibly as low as the upper 20s deep inland.

The good news is Thursday and Friday will feature a lot more sunshine, but temperatures will struggle to reach the low 60s thanks to a cold northerly wind.

Friday and Saturday morning will be the coldest of the week, and temperatures will be close to freezing for locations farther north like Arcadia and deeper inland over portions of Glades and Hendry County.

A freeze watch may be issued for our inland counties for Friday and Saturday morning, so precautions may need to be taken to protect plants and vegetation here.

The cold snap ends late this weekend into early next week as temperatures rebound into the 70s, but long-range forecast models hint at another cool down coming by the middle of next week. Return to index of stories...

SPORTS TEASE #2-OC, VO

NOW LET'S TALK SOME COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

REMEMBER LAST NIGHT WHEN I SAID ALL THOSE NICE THINGS ABOUT U-C-F?

WELL, THE KNIGHTS ARE BACK IN THE NEWS, AND THIS TIME THEY'RE MAKING FOOLS OF THEMSELVES.

THE BLITZ IS NEXT. Return to index of stories...

UCF TWEET VO-VOTOPS

WELL, HERE IT IS -- U-C-F'S TWITTER PAGE, PROCLAIMING THE UNDEFEATED KNIGHTS "NATIONAL CHAMPIONS."

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR DANNY WHITE SAYS THE SCHOOL WILL EVEN PUT UP A BANNER TO THAT EFFECT IN ITS STADIUM.

LAST NIGHT, I TOOK UP FOR THE KNIGHTS.

NOW IT'S TIME TO TEAR THEM DOWN. Return to index of stories...

UCF BLITZ-OC

ARE YOU SERIOUS, U-C-F?

HEY, CONGRATULATIONS ON A GREAT SEASON -- A PERFECT SEASON -- BUT YOU ARE NOT NATIONAL CHAMPIONS.

PRINTING T-SHIRTS AND PUTTING UP A BANNER DOES NOT CHANGE REALITY.

I'M REMINDED OF THAT LINE FROM WEDDING CRASHERS WHEN OWEN WILSON SAID, "I'd like to be pimps from Oakland, or cowboys from Arizona, but it's not Halloween."

AND LOOK, I GET IT -- WE CURRENTLY LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE YOU CAN SAY THINGS THAT HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO BASIS IN FACT, HOPING TO CONVINCE PEOPLE THEY'RE TRUE, BUT THIS IS A BAD LOOK, KNIGHTS.

IT'S KIND OF EMBARRASSING, TO BE HONEST.

I MEAN, WHO'S TAKING YOU SERIOUSLY?

INSTEAD OF CELEBRATING AN AMAZING YEAR -- MAYBE PUTTING UP A BANNER THAT SAYS "PERFECT SEASON" -- YOU'RE BACK TO BEING A PUNCHLINE. Return to index of stories...
