FIRST WEATHER-WX WALL

Another big blast of cold air arrives in Southwest Florida today, but before the chilly air rushes in, we'll see the potential for a few showers today.

The highest rain chance will come during the first half of the day, so grab the umbrella on the way out the door this morning.

Today's rain won't be too heavy or widespread, and rain amounts will generally stay below a quarter inch.

Temperatures won't start of as low as yesterday morning, but it's still going to be quite chilly especially once you factor in the brisk northerly wind that will gust up to 20-25 mph at times today.

We'll start off in the low to mid 50s this morning, and with some breaks in the clouds this afternoon, we should manage to warm into the low to mid 60s.

Temperatures will turn sharply cold tonight, and the wind will make it feel several degrees colder.

Morning lows Thursday will tumble into the low 40s in town and into the mid to upper 30s across our inland communities like Hendry and Glades County.

Wind chill values, however, will get down into the 30s and possibly as low as the upper 20s deep inland.

The good news is Thursday and Friday will feature a lot more sunshine, but temperatures will struggle to reach the low 60s thanks to a cold northerly wind.

Friday and Saturday morning will be the coldest of the week, and temperatures will be close to freezing for locations farther north like Arcadia and deeper inland over portions of Glades and Hendry County.

A freeze watch may be issued for our inland counties for Friday and Saturday morning, so precautions may need to be taken to protect plants and vegetation here.

The cold snap ends late this weekend into early next week as temperatures rebound into the 70s, but long-range forecast models hint at another cool down coming by the middle of next week. Return to index of stories...

THE LATEST DEMONSTRATIONS WE'VE SEEN TODAY ARE ACTUALLY STATE-ORGANIZED PRO-GOVERNMENT DEMONSTRATIONS.

IRANIAN FLAGS WAVING, PEOPLE CHANTING FOR THE REGIME, ALL COVERED EXTENSIVELY BY IRANIAN STATE TELEVISION.

OVERNIGHT WE'VE HAD MORE ANTI-GOVERNMENT PROTESTS.

THEY MOSTLY TAKE PLACE AFTER DUSK. WE'VE HAD A WEEK NOW OF THESE OFTEN VIOLENT DEMONSTRATIONS.

THE DEATH TOLL STANDS NOW AT OVER 20. AND THERE'S CLEAR EVIDENCE FIRSTLY THAT THIS HAS SHAKEN THE IRANIAN REGIME AND SPLIT IT.

WE HAVE IRAN'S SUPREME LEADER, AYATOLLAH KHAMENEI, EXPLICITLY BLAMING THOSE PROTESTS ON FOREIGN COUNTRIES.

HE DIDN'T NAME ANY, BUT HE IS TALKING ABOUT THE US, ISRAEL AND SAUDI ARABIA.

ON THE OTHER HAND WE HAVE PRESIDENT ROUHANI, RELATIVELY MODERATE, EXPLICITLY SAYING IT'S WRONG TO SAY THAT THIS IS JUST THE WORK OF FOREIGNERS, AND HE'S CALLING FOR THE PROTESTERS TO BE SHOWN SOME UNDERSTANDING.

NOW THERE'S NO DOUBT WHERE THE US STANDS ON THIS. AMERICA'S UN AMBASSADOR NIKKI HALEY SAYING IT'S NONSENSE TO BLAME THE PROTESTS ON FOREIGN POWERS. THEY ARE SHE SAYS SPONTANEOUS.

PRESIDENT TRUMP WEIGHING IN TWEETING NOT ONLY IS THE US WATCHING BUT ADDING THAT IRANIANS ARE HUNGRY FOR FOOD AND FOR FREEDOM AND EXPLICITLY SAYING IT IS TIME FOR CHANGE.

NO QUESTION THE IRANIAN REGIME IS NOW HITTING BACK. THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF ARRESTS. AND REMEMBER THAT'S HOW THE REGIME CRUSHED THE NEAR REVOLUTION OF 2009.

FORECAST OPEN Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
