This cold snap came as a bit of a surprise for some Naples parents.

335 not at all I thought it was going to be T-shirt's and shorts and sandals that's it

540 I thought I moved to get away from this and it found me

Now. letting their kids play outside requires some extra thought.

325 make sure I bundle up my son real good, sweatshirt with the hoodie. Sweatpants wear long socks and sneakers

Today. kids are playing outdoors at Sports Club Naples.

Which also means some extra steps are being taken.

0050 gauging the weather, we can tell when we step outside we're like no it's a little too chilly, we don't want anyone getting sick

But tomorrow. Collier County schools are back in session.

That means kids will be waiting for buses in the coldest early morning hours.

525 we had to go out and buy some stuff to make sure that they were properly dressed for the weather that we're having

Since parents won't have an eye on their kids at all times. they say they need to teach the little ones what to do.

550 keep bundled up keep your zipper pulled all the way to the top, make sure you have your head covered when the rain and the wind is blowing

The game plan.

540 we're gonna deal with it until it gets warm again

Scot Goldberg/Attorney / 01:53:25 If somebody goes to court and the jury finds that person not guilty why in the world shouldn't their charges be expunged regardless of what the charge is. 01;53:25

ATTORNEY SCOT GOLDBERG CALLS IT A LOOPHOLE IN THE LAW.

01:56:38 / It's an unfair process.

CHARGES STAYING ON YOUR RECORD EVEN IF YOU'VE BEEN FOUND NOT GUILTY.

STATE REPRESENTATIVE DANE EAGLE WANTS TO CHANGE THAT.

Dane Eagle/State Rep. / 01:44:32 This is giving them a second chance. Wiping their record clean. 01:44:34

RIGHT NOW, THAT ONLY HAPPENS IF THE CHARGES AGAINST YOU ARE DROPPED OR YOU ACCEPT A PLEA DEAL.

Dane Eagle / 01:46:08 You should have the chance to go out there and find a job of your choosing without having to worry about disclosing this and having someone come back and say well that one time you got arrested and found not guilty.we're not going to hire you. 01:46;17

THE BILL WOULD ONLY APPLY TO MISDEMEANOR CHARGES.

NOT FELONIES.

Roger Butterfield/Immokalee / 02:01:29 I think that the bill probably doesn't go far enough. But I think any step in the right direction of people having these records for the rest of their lives is a good thing. 02:01:39

BUT SOME ARE CONCERNED.

Larry Keiser/FM / 02:02:07 But the other side of that is a few months later and you do the same crime or whatever and there is no record that you done it before, then it's not really fair to the system. 02:02;19

WHILE THE BILL WOULD REQUIRE FDLE TO SEAL THE CHARGES--

GOLDBERG WARNS THEY MAY NEVER COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR FROM THE INTERNET.

Scot Goldberg/Attorney / 01:55:17 So if you do get your record expunged you have to call the website and pay $400 to have your name taken off that website. 01:55:25 Return to index of stories...
