FORECAST-WX WALL

WX RUNDOWN:

BOATERS

EXTENDED

CITIES

Forecast: Cool, but not freezing temperatures expected tonight

After a stint of days featuring unseasonably cold weather for southern Florida, temperatures will continue to be cool tonight though not quite as cold as what they have been.

Through the overnight hours tonight the coldest weather will be for areas of Charlotte, DeSoto, Hendry and Glades Counties. These are areas that can expect sunrise Sunday morning temperatures to range from the upper 30s to low 40s. A morning low of 39 is expected in Punta Gorda, with 41 in Labelle and 42 in Immokalee.

The western and coastal areas of Lee and Collier Counties will be warmer tonight, with temperatures slipping into the mid 40s for most areas. By early tomorrow morning, we can expect the thermometer to read around 43 degrees in Bonita Springs and Estero, 45 degrees toward Naples, and 44 degrees around Fort Myers and Cape Coral.

For the weather on Sunday, conditions on the southwestern coast of Florida look overall nice. Temperatures in the afternoon will be slightly warmer than today topping out in the upper 60s after lunchtime. A partly cloudy sky is forecast in the afternoon, with no rain developing in our part of the state.

A pattern shift is becoming increasingly likely in our long term forecast. Winds will begin to take on more of an eastern push by Monday and Tuesday which will allow mid-day highs to roar back to seasonable levels during the day. A forecast high of 77 degrees is expected on Monday with 79 degrees on Tuesday.

Something to watch in our weather is a broad weather system over the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday and Wednesday. With this system in place we'll have to account for our weather turning cloudier, with a few showers in the region as well. Though rain can be a bummer for beach plans, our area needs it.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

FGCU MEN-SOTTOPS

"It needs to translate into the game. We do enough drills, and we've done enough things. I think it needs to be a mindset that if, you know, if we rebound the ball usually, statistically, we've shot the ball. We're shooting over 48%, so we've got a one in two chance of scoring if you don't turn it over and if you rebound, so that's not real hard mathmatical equation, so that's something we've emphasized."
