FIRST WEATHER-CHROMA

Forecast: Warm up continues Sunday

It's another cool and breezy start in Southwest Florida, jacket weather as we bottom out in the low 40s this morning. Temperatures will rise to the upper 60s to low 70s today, with the best chance for 70 degree highs in Collier County. This should be the last morning of widespread lows in the 40s as our warming trend continues. Winds will turn to out of the east today and moisten up the air over South Florida to something more typical for this time of year.

As a result of the warmer and more humid air expected overnight, lows will only drop into the 50s on Monday morning. Highs will reach the upper 70s with partly cloudy skies on Monday.

A developing system over the Rockies will reach our side of the Gulf of Mexico Monday night and hang around for a couple of days. This is expected to be a fairly weak area of low pressure which will leave us cloudy and showery weather through Tuesday and Wednesday. Rain chances will stay below 40 percent and any rain totals will be low over this period. The cloudy and unsettled pattern continues into the second half of the week with a slight chance for a shower or two each day.

Temperatures will stay in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees Tuesday through Friday. A cold front will likely bring slightly cooler weather by the end of next weekend.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

A NEW YEAR BROUGHT A NEW TAX PLAN.

ONE OF THE BIGGEST CHANGES ARE THE LIMITS ON DEDUCTING STATE AND LOCAL TAXES FROM YOUR FEDERAL TAX RETURN.

STATE AND LOCAL TAX LOOPHOLES-PKG

*NATS TRUMP - VICTORY LAP*

THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION'S SIGNATURE VICTORY in 20-17.

*NATS LAWN APPLAUSE LAP*

. IS POTENTIALLY SPARKING WHAT COULD BE ITS BIGGEST FIGHT OF 20-18.

SOT:

"The ink is just starting to dry on the tax bill. A lot of states are trying to figure out how it's going to affect their residents."

AT THE HEART OF THE FIGHT. LIMITS ON DEDUCTIONS FOR STATE AND LOCAL TAXES.

EXPERTS SAY people IN THESE HIGH-TAX areas could be on the hook to pay MORE. AS MANY IN traditional BLUE STATES AVERAGE DEDUCTIONS OF OVER 15 THOUSAND DOLLARS EVERY YEAR in city and state taxes.

IT ALL USED TO BE DEDUCTIBLE FROM A FEDERAL TAX BILL. NEXT YEAR THE DEDUCTION is CAPPED AT JUST 10 THOUSAND DOLLARS.

NEW YORK GOVERNOR ANDREW CUOMO SAID HE'LL SUE.

SOT:

"We will challenge it in court as unconstitutional." *standing ovation*

BUT OTHER LEADERS ARE GETTING MORE CREATIVE TO REDUCE WHAT THEY'VE CALLED A POLITICALLY MOTIVATED TAX GRAB.

THE NEW LAW MAINTAINS DEDUCTIONS FOR CHARITABLE DONATIONS. SO THEY'RE CONCOCTING WAYS TO ALLOW PEOPLE TO 'DONATE' MONEY TO STATE AND CITY COFFERS. AND GET BACK A DOLLAR-FOR-DOLLAR TAX CREDIT FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTION.

SOT:

"Republicans are saying Democrats always wanted richer people to pay higher taxes - that's exactly what this is doing. And Democrats are saying hold on this is really unfairly targeted at high tax states which happen to be the Democratic states so this feels more like political targeting than tax policy."

IF THE PROPOSALS BECOME LAW. IT'S UNCLEAR HOW THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION WOULD RESPOND.

THE I-R-S WOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO WEIGH IN. AND COULD SAY THE UNUSUAL 'DONATIONS' DON'T QUALIFY FOR TAX RELIEF.

THE PRESIDENT DEFENDED HIS OWN FITNESS FOR OFFICE.

"I was a very excellent student and came out and made billions and billions of dollars, became one of the top business people, went to television and for ten years was a tremendous success as you probably have heard."

DEEPER THAN BRAVADO, THE PRESIDENT HAD ALREADY USED TWITTER THIS MORNING TO ADDRESS HIS OWN PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING.

".my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart."

AND DESCRIBED HIMSELF AS.

"a very stable genius at that!"

"This guy that does not know me, doesn't know me at all, by the way did not interview me, said he interviewed me for three hours in the White House, it didn't exist."

THE PRESIDENT'S ANGER EXTENDED TO FIRED FORMER CHIEF STRATEGIST, STEVE BANNON, WHO COOPERATED WITH THE AUTHOR.

"I guess Sloppy Steve brought him into the White House quite a bit and it was one of those things. That's why Sloppy Steve is right now looking for a job."

THE PRESIDENT--WHO THREATENED LEGAL ACTION TO TRY TO STOP PUBLICATION-- COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SYSTEM.

"I consider it a work of fiction, and I think it's a disgrace that somebody is able to have something, do something like that. The libel laws are very weak in this country."
