FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Good Monday morning, Southwest Florida!

You'll need the jacket again this morning, but temperatures will warm nicely this afternoon as the cold air continues to fade--at least for now.

Temperatures start in the lower 50s and upper 40s this morning, and we'll see partial sunshine through the morning.

Clouds will be much more plentiful today, but we'll see enough sun to warm us up into the upper 70s.

Rain chances will be a touch higher today as moisture levels steadily increase across Southwest Florida, so it's possible to see a few spotty light showers this afternoon and evening.

Tuesday will be another fairly cloudy day with another opportunity for some areas of light rain, and a few showers may develop in the morning.

Overall, rain chances will be around 30% Tuesday, so lots of us will end up staying dry.

By mid week, cloud cover thins out a bit, making way for sunnier and increasingly warmer weather.

Afternoon highs rebound into the lower 80s Wednesday and Thursday, which will make the first day we've been in the 80s in almost two weeks!

Just as temperatures start to warm up, another cold front is scheduled to arrive in Southwest Florida Friday night into Saturday morning.

This cold front will be strong but not quite as strong as the last one.

We'll even see the potential for a little scattered rain from Friday evening into Saturday morning, which may change depending on the timing of the front.

There's a good chance our highs this weekend will only warm into the 60s with overnight lows possibly getting as low as the upper 40s and lower 50s, so get ready for another bout of chilly weather this weekend. Return to index of stories...

NEARLY HALF OF RENTERS CAN'T AFFORD THEIR RENT.

ACCORDING TO A HARVARD REPORT -- ALMOST 21 MILLION PEOPLE WERE CONSIDERED BURDENED BY THE PRICE OF THEIR RENT IN 2016.

MEANING MORE THAN 30 PERCENT OF INCOME IS DEDICATED TO HOUSING AND UTILITIES.

SOME ARE IN EVEN WORSE SHAPE.

25 PERCENT OF RENTERS PAY MORE THAN HALF OF THEIR INCOME FOR HOUSING.

LOSING SUCH A BIG CHUNK OF YOUR CHECK CAN IMPACT YOUR SAVINGS --

AND FORCE TOUGH SPENDING DECISIONS DOWN THE ROAD.

LIKE DECIDING WHETHER TO PAY RENT OR PAY FOR FOOD.

THERE IS SOME GOOD NEWS.

AN IMPROVING ECONOMY AND RISING PAYCHECKS HAVE HELPED EASE THE BURDEN FOR SOME RENTERS.

BUT -- AFFLUENT RENTERS -- COMBINED WITH HIGH BUILDING AND LAND COSTS -- ARE DRIVING THE PRICES UP.

YOU MAY BE ABLE TO LOWER PAYMENTS.

TRY TO SWITCH PROVIDERS EVERY YEAR.

CALL YOUR CABLE COMPANY TO SEE IF YOU CAN NEGOTIATE A LOWER RATE.

OR CUT THE CORD -- AND SWITCH TO A STREAMING SERVICE.

CONSIDER GETTING A ROOMMATE.

THE NEW PERSON COULD HELP YOU CUT COSTS IN HALF.

IF YOU ARE A GOOD RENTER -- HAGGLE WITH YOUR LANDLORD.

TRY TO TALK THE COMPANY OUT OF RAISING YOUR RENT WHEN IT COMES TIME TO RENEW.

IF AN APPLIANCE BREAKS -- ASK YOUR LANDLORD ABOUT GETTING CREDIT ON YOUR NEXT RENT STATEMENT.

ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE TO SPEND MONEY WHILE YOU WAIT FOR THAT APPLIANCE TO GET FIXED.

HEALTH MINUTE: ARE LOW CALORIE WINES WORTH IT?-PKG

FLAVOR, AROMA AND BALANCE MATTER WHEN CHOOSING A GLASS OF WINE.

BUT IF YOU'RE ON A DIET, CALORIE CONTENT MIGHT BE ON YOUR MIND.

THERE ARE ABOUT ONE-HUNDRED-TWENTY CALORIES IN A GLASS OF WHITE TABLE WINE.

BUT DEPENDING ON THE VARIETY, "SKINNY" WINES HAVE FIFTEEN- TO THIRTY-PERCENT FEWER CALORIES.

YOU COULD SAVE ANYWHERE FROM TWENTY TO FORTY CALORIES ON A TYPICAL GLASS.

SO WHERE DO THE CALORIE SAVINGS COME FROM?

WEATHER-WX WALL

IF YOU'VE HAD ONE --

YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THE FRUSTRATION.

MIGRAINES CAN BE TRIGGERED BY LOUD NOISES, BRIGHT LIGHTS, EVEN YOUR DIET—

DOCTORS SAY MORE THAN 3 MILLION PEOPLE SUFFER FROM MIGRAINES.

LINDSEY MORTON FINDS OUT HOW ACUPUNCTURE MAY HELP PATIENTS ON TODAY'S HEALTH MATTERS. Return to index of stories...

HEALTH MATTERS-PKG

Migraines can start as a dull headache and progress to a throbbing pain in one part of the head.

PD 1:18- Normally they last hours to a day or so. Sometimes people will suffer from recurrent and it will

run a few days.

STANDUP: patients with migraines may experience nausea, vomiting, visual changes, or confusion. Some

of the most common triggers can be stress and diet.

PD:49- there are actual changes that occur in the brain. CUT where the brain actually changes some of

its electronically activity during the migraine. It's usually one side of the brain that settles down.

Massage therapist and licensed acupuncturist Renee Sarra says some of those changes can be managed

through acupuncture and massage therapy.

RS:22 I don't know if people know are aware that acupuncture works so well with chronic migraines.

Most migraine sufferers are women—and while possible triggers have been discovered, the exact cause

for each patient isn't always clear.

RS:55 I would do a full assessment of your structural body first. Is it coming from the cervical neck, even

the low back maybe? Is it hormonal?

*When the migraines occur can also help Sarra decided where to place the needles for acupuncture.

RS 1:54 in my opinion, how I would place it is, how can I get this fire, this energy out of the head?

Acupuncture and massage therapy can ease the pain by helping patients relax.

RS 1:38 I want to combine the two so I can hit everything so that you leave without a headache.

Patients can also try rest, hydration and prescribed medications to help prevent and cope with a

migraine. Available options to give patients a way to manage their symptoms. For Lee Health I'm Lindsey

Morton. Return to index of stories...
