SANIBEL IS A BARRIER ISLAND HERE IN THE GULF WHICH PUTS IT SHORES AT RISK IF THERE WAS EVER AN OIL SPILL - LIKE THE DEEPWATER HORIZON ONE IN 2010 - WHICH IS ONE OF THE COUNCIL'S CONCERNS IF DRILLING IS EXPANDED.

IN THE CITYS RESOLUTION PASSED TODAY, COUNCIL MEMBERS SAY THEY STRONGLY OPPOSE THE DRILLING. CITING THE CITYS TOURISM ECONOMY AND SAYING THAT A SPILL WOULD PUT WILDLIFE, BEACHES, ESTUARIES, FISHING AND TOURISM AT RISK.

A TOURIST WE SPOKE TO SAYS HE AGREES WITH THE COUNCILS DECISION TO OPPOSE THE DRILLING BECAUSE HE WOULDN'T WANT TO VISIT IF THERE WAS EVER ANY OIL ON THE BEACES.

04:17:51 IF THERES ANY INKLING OF THAT I WOULD VOTE AGAINST IT BECAUSE WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DISRUPT ANYTHING THIS BEAUTIFUL 59

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXCTR WXWALL

ANCHOR AD LIB WX INTRO

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Good Monday morning, Southwest Florida!

You'll need the jacket again this morning, but temperatures will warm nicely this afternoon as the cold air continues to fade--at least for now.

Temperatures start in the lower 50s and upper 40s this morning, and we'll see partial sunshine through the morning.

Clouds will be much more plentiful today, but we'll see enough sun to warm us up into the upper 70s.

Rain chances will be a touch higher today as moisture levels steadily increase across Southwest Florida, so it's possible to see a few spotty light showers this afternoon and evening.

Tuesday will be another fairly cloudy day with another opportunity for some areas of light rain, and a few showers may develop in the morning.

Overall, rain chances will be around 30% Tuesday, so lots of us will end up staying dry.

By mid week, cloud cover thins out a bit, making way for sunnier and increasingly warmer weather.

Afternoon highs rebound into the lower 80s Wednesday and Thursday, which will make the first day we've been in the 80s in almost two weeks!

Just as temperatures start to warm up, another cold front is scheduled to arrive in Southwest Florida Friday night into Saturday morning.

This cold front will be strong but not quite as strong as the last one.

We'll even see the potential for a little scattered rain from Friday evening into Saturday morning, which may change depending on the timing of the front.

There's a good chance our highs this weekend will only warm into the 60s with overnight lows possibly getting as low as the upper 40s and lower 50s, so get ready for another bout of chilly weather this weekend. Return to index of stories...

TO CNBC'S DIANA OLICK.AND OTHER REAL ESTATE EXPERTS.

.IT'S ALL ABOUT. INVENTORY OF HOMES AVAILABLE FOR SALE.OR MORE SPECIFICALLY, THE LACK OF INVENTORY.

. THAT'LL DRIVE THE HOUSING MARKET IN 2018.

"Supplies are still near record lows and demand is so high that as soon as those homes come on the market, if they're well-priced, they will get eaten up!"

FEDERAL MORTGAGE LENDERS ARE PREDICTING AN INCREASE IN HOME SALES THIS YEAR.

.EVEN IF INTERESTS RATES RISE FROM THEIR CURRENT.JUST UNDER 4-PERCENT.

THAT MEANS THERE'S A PUSH TO BUY NOW.AHEAD OF WHAT'S EXPECTED TO BE A BUSY HOME-BUYING YEAR.ESPECIALLY AMONG MILLENNIALS.

KOREA TALKS-PKG

-- PKG --

S/ Bill Neely/ NBC News/ Seoul :02-:12

"These are the first talks between the two Koreas in two years. There is an ocean of mistrust between the two countries. So these talks will start very slowly, very cautiously."

IT'LL BE HELD AT THE DEMILITARIZED ZONE, THE WORLD'S MOST DANGEROUS BORDER.

AND THIS IS A DANGEROUS TIME HERE ON THE KOREAN PENINSULA.

ITEM NUMBER ONE ON THE AGENDA IS THE OLYMPIC GAMES.

NORTH KOREA WOULD LIKE WE BELIEVE TO PARTICIPATE.

THEY HAVE TWO WORLD CLASS SKATERS.

SO PART OF THE DISCUSSIONS WILL BE HOW TO FACILITATE THAT.

BUT IT'S THE ITEM NUMBER TWO IF YOU LIKE THAT GOES BEYOND THAT, THAT'S OF REAL INTEREST.

AND THAT'S RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO KOREAS.

THE LEADER OF THE SOUTH KOREAN DELEGATION SAID TODAY HE HOPES THE TALKS WILL DECREASE TENSION.

THIS IS USING THE OLYMPIC GAMES IF YOU LIKE AS A PRETEXT FOR A BROADER DISCUSSION ABOUT POLITICS.

PRESIDENT TRUMP SAYS HE'S 100 PERCENT BEHIND THE TALKS AND THINKS THEY'RE A GOOD THING.

PEOPLE HERE ARE VERY SKEPTICAL. THEY WORRY ABOUT KIM JONG UN'S MOTIVES, WEATHER HE IS IN FACT TRYING TO SPLIT THE ALLIANCE BETWEEN SOUTH KOREA AND THE UNITED STATES.

THAT WOULD DO GREAT DAMAGE.

"I'm not here by choice. I don't want to be on the streets."

BUT WHEN PRINCE HARRY AND AMERICAN ACTRESS MEGHAN MARKLE PARADE THROUGH THE STREETS OF WINDSOR FOR THEIR WEDDING THIS SPRING.

SOME WORRY the ROYAL SPOTLIGHT will shine brightly ON POVERTY hiding IN THE SHADOW OF QUEEN ELIZABETH'S CASTLE. THAT'S BECOMING A POLITICAL FEUD

A LOCAL LEADER ASKED POLICE TO REMOVE the HOMELESS, SAYING

"Sadly there is an epidemic of rough sleeping and vagrancy in Windsor."

IT SPARKED OUTRAGE. NOW EIGHTY THOUSAND HAVE SIGNED A DIGITAL PETITION DEMANDING POLICE LEAVE THEM ALONE

THE PRIME MINISTER WEIGHING IN.

"I think it is important that councils work hard to ensure that they are providing accommodation for people that are homeless."

AFTER TAKING FIRE FROM HER OPPONENTS

"Since this government came to power, homelessness is up by 50 percent."

NO COMMENT SO FAR FROM THE PRINCE AND HIS AMERICAN FIANCEE

BUT THE royals HAVE A HISTORY OF FIGHTING HOMELESSNESS, VISITING SHELTERS.

AND FOR PRINCE HARRY'S BROTHER WILLIAM, EVEN SLEEPING OUTSIDE ON LONDON'S STREETS IN 2009

LOOK AT CURTIS DUMESNIL HERE.

TO SAY HE WAS SICK IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT.

"I mean I couldn't walk from here to the ottoman, it was just impossible."

FOR SOMEONE WHO WAS PREVIOUSLY AN ACTIVE AND ACCOMPLISHED HUNTER. BEING IMMOBILE WAS AWFUL. AND HE WAS DESPERATE TO GET BACK TO WHAT HE LOVED.

"I would sit here and watch hunting shows on TV and see people doing the things I love to do and I'm think dear God could I ever do that again?"

THAT'S WHEN HE FOUND DR JERRY ESTEP AT HOUSTON METHODIST.

"Our goal for the majority of our patients is for them to return to those activities they enjoy and, and fortunately where the device is, technology is, and the medical management were seeing the majority of our patients attain that goal."

GETTING BACK TO NORMAL ACTIVITY WAS EASY AS THAT FOR CURTIS. GETTING AN LVAD MEANS HE'S BACK TO HUNTING.

AND HE COORDINATES GROUPS OF HUNTERS WITH LVADS TO GO ON AN ANNUAL TRIP AROUND THE HOLIDAYS TO A RANCH IN LONGVIEW, TEXAS

"I've had him there in wheelchairs, I've had him there and Walkers and we've got all kinds of stands, on the ground, halfway up and real high. So it's like a big family and this is a beautiful Ranch and we have a simple good time."

TRUE, THEY HAVE TO CARRY BATTERY PACKS AND CORDS,

BUT CURTIS HAS CREATIVELY DESIGNED WAYS TO MAKE IT EASIER, ENJOY HIS LIFE. AND HIS MESSAGE FOR EVERYONE FACING BAD NEWS OF HEART FAILURE. YOU CAN TOO!
