FORECAST-WXCTR-CHROMA

Forecast: Cloudy tonight with a few showers tomorrow

Now in the wake of last week's chilly cold snap, Southwest Florida is in a new weather pattern that thankfully will include warmer temperatures. The down side with the pattern switch is that we'll have to deal with more clouds, and on Tuesday at least a few isolated showers.

In the meantime for tonight, sky conditions will remain cloudy with temperatures forecast to drop into the low 60s in Lee and Collier Counties. An overnight low of 62 is forecast in Fort Myers and Estero, with 63 degrees by sunrise Tuesday morning in Naples and Golden Gate.

Our coolest communities overnight tonight will be north of the Caloosahatchee River. That's where spots like Punta Gorda, Arcadia and Moore Haven will begin the day tomorrow with highs between 58 and 59 degrees.

Toward the start of the day on Tuesday we'll have to include the chance for some patchy areas of fog developing in the morning, especially in parts of Charlotte, inland Lee, inland Collier, DeSoto, Hendry and Glades Counties. Though the fog isn't expected to be terribly dense, it would more thank likely pop up around the morning commute times, so a heads up on that weather front.

What's impacting our weather on Tuesday is a broad area of low pressure that is over the northern Gulf of Mexico. This will continue to keep a fair supply of clouds in our weather forecast, and usher in the chance for some showers as well. Rain totals on Tuesday are not expected to exceed.25", meaning overall low rain amounts can be expected in areas that do see any showers.

On Wednesday and Thursday, rain chances should trend downward as temperatures peak above the norm for early January. Afternoon highs on both days should top out near 80 degrees.

Boating Forecast

Southeast winds are expected on Tuesday around 10 knots during the afternoon hours. Though there are no advisories posted in the Gulf from the National Weather Service, boaters should keep in mind some rain will be over the water on Tuesday as a low pressure system swirls off Florida's west coast. Open seas are expected to peak around 2 feet with inland waters and Gulf bays at a light chop.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...

DAYS AFTER SURGERY--THE OPEN WOUND-- IS AT LEAST SIX INCHES LONG.

LEISURE STILL HAS TO HAVE FLUIDS PUMPED OUT HIS BACK, AND THE DRESSING CHANGED EVERY OTHER DAY.

Carl Braun:

"They are more common in this area than some people think."

CARL BRAUN IS AN EXTERMINATOR.

Carl Braun:

"All spiders have venom, the particular venom in the brown recluse spider causes tissue necrosis."

MEANING THE VENOM KILLS BODY TISSUE.

Jonathan Larson:

"This isn't Arachnaphobia or Eight Legged Freaks."

SPIDER EXPERT JONATHAN LARSON SAYS THE SPIDERS ARE NOT AGGRESSIVE.

Jonathan Larson:

"They're not looking for human blood or anything like that. They are just something that we accidentally interact with."

AND THE SPIDERS BY NATURE LIKE TO HIDE.

Jonathan Larson:

"As long as they can find food and feel sheltered in that spot then they'll wait out a whole winter or sometime like that."

Carl Braun:

"We might find them in our houses in the back of closets, in boots or gloves, maybe in an old sweater or a box."

BECAUSE OF ITS UNIFORM LOOK, THE SPIDERS CAN BE EASILY MISTAKEN.

Waverle Monroe:

"Experts say a brown recluse spider size is anywhere from a dime to a quarter but if it's bigger than a quarter then it is probably not a brown recluse."

Jonathan Larson:

"If you see one it is a good bet that there are probably a few others around."

AND THAT'S WHY YOU NEED TO TREAT THE BROWN RECLUSE SERIOUSLY.

DON'T BE SHY ABOUT SEEKING HELP, RIGHT AWAY.

KELLY LEISURE LEARNED THE HARD WAY.

Kelly Leisure:

"It took me from a really healthy person, I've never been hardly sick a day in my life. From here on out, I'm scared to do anything."

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-CLIP

FORECAST OPEN Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WXWALL

CHRIS MARZAN SAYS IT'S A NIGHT HE WILL NEVER FORGET AFTER SEEING A CAR DRIVING OUT OF CONTROL NEAR STOCKTON BOULEVARD IN SOUTH SACRAMENTO.

Chris Marzan/Witness:

"I noticed it was a Sacramento police vehicle. As I passed, he makes a u-turn so in my mind I'm like great I am going to get pulled over."

MARZAN, A FORMER SECURITY GUARD, DIDN'T GET GET PULLED OVER.

INSTEAD, HE WITNESSED THE PATROL CAR CRASH.

Chris Marzan/Witness:

"Looking into my rear view mirror, I noticed that the vehicle continued swerving side to side and eventually crashed into a side parking lot."

THAT'S WHEN HE REALIZED THE PERSON DRIVING THE PATROL CAR WAS NOT IN UNIFORM.

Chris Marzan/Witness:

"I then saw an individual -- a male -- get out of the vehicle wearing gray sweats, black shirt. And I'm like he is definitely not an officer. He gets back into the patrol car, so as a double back."

MARZAN SAYS HE DIALED 9-1-1 AND PROCEEDED TO FOLLOW THE DRIVER. AND RECORD HIS EVERY MOVE USING HIS NEW DASH CAM.

Chris Marzan/Witness:

"I said this guy needs to be stopped / My concern was there was a bunch of pedestrians around and this guy was driving reckless so I proceeded to follow him."

Leticia Ordaz/Reporting:

"The suspect decided to stop at a one market. He went in for a beer and that's when Marzan went in and made a citizen's arrest."

Chris Marzan/Witness:

"I used caution. I was very careful because I didn't know if this guy was going to come out with a weapon."

MARZAN PLACED THE 22-YEAR-OLD IN HANDCUFFS.

Chris Marzan/Witness:

"I was like 'get down on the ground.'"

ZACHARY SAMAHA COMPLIED WITH ORDERS BUT THE GOOD SAMARITAN SAYS HE WAS CLEARLY INTOXICATED.

Chris Marzan/Witness:

"He was like, 'Oh okay, you got me,' and he was just laughing about the whole thing. So it was like a big joke to him."

SACRAMENTO POLICE SAY THEY ARE INVESTIGATING THE INCIDENT AND HOPE TO PREVENT ANOTHER PATROL CAR FROM BEING STOLEN AGAIN.

Sgt. Vance Chandler/Sacramento Police:

"I don't know why anyone would commit such a crime. We are looking into it right now and we're looking at our policies and procedures if there are any lessons learned from this event."

MARZAN SAYS HE KNOWS HE PUT HIS LIFE AT RISK. BUT HAS NOT REGRETS.

Leticia Ordaz/Reporting:

"Hindsight, do you regret doing what you did?"

Chris Marzan/Witness:

"Since last night a lot of people have talked to me about it. I don't recommend anyone doing anything that I did. I stand by my decision because I can't live with myself if something happened to someone."

OFFICERS SAY THEY APPRECIATE HIS HELP.

Sgt. Vance Chandler/Sacramento Police:
