GOOD MORNING-2SHOT

GOOD MONDAY MORNING SOUTHWEST FLORIDA--

I'M CLAY MILLER.

AND I'M RACHEL PIERCE.

LOTS TO TLAK ABOUT THIS MORNING--

FROM LAST NIGHT GOLDEN GLOBES.

BUT FIRST A BIT OF A WARM UP THIS MORNING.

AND JUST IN TIME AS LEE COUNTY STUDENTS HEAD BACK TO SCHOOL.

LETS TOSS IT OVER TO FIRST ALERT METEOROLOGIST JASON DUNNING WITH THE LATEST THIS MORNING. Return to index of stories...

FIRST WEATHER-WXCTR

PUSH ALERT: Another chilly start for Southwest Florida, but the first 80 degree day of 2018 comes this week. Meteorologist Jason Dunning is tracking a warm up this morning on NBC2 News TODAY!

Good Monday morning, Southwest Florida!

You'll need the jacket again this morning, but temperatures will warm nicely this afternoon as the cold air continues to fade--at least for now.

Temperatures start in the lower 50s and upper 40s this morning, and we'll see partial sunshine through the morning.

Clouds will be much more plentiful today, but we'll see enough sun to warm us up into the upper 70s.

Rain chances will be a touch higher today as moisture levels steadily increase across Southwest Florida, so it's possible to see a few spotty light showers this afternoon and evening.

Tuesday will be another fairly cloudy day with another opportunity for some areas of light rain, and a few showers may develop in the morning.

Overall, rain chances will be around 30% Tuesday, so lots of us will end up staying dry.

By mid week, cloud cover thins out a bit, making way for sunnier and increasingly warmer weather.

Afternoon highs rebound into the lower 80s Wednesday and Thursday, which will make the first day we've been in the 80s in almost two weeks!

Just as temperatures start to warm up, another cold front is scheduled to arrive in Southwest Florida Friday night into Saturday morning.

This cold front will be strong but not quite as strong as the last one.

We'll even see the potential for a little scattered rain from Friday evening into Saturday morning, which may change depending on the timing of the front.

There's a good chance our highs this weekend will only warm into the 60s with overnight lows possibly getting as low as the upper 40s and lower 50s, so get ready for another bout of chilly weather this weekend. Return to index of stories...

Today's Weather Story
