A CAPE CORAL COUPLE CAUGHT *SELLING PRESCRIPTION PILLS--

RIGHT NEXT TO A CHURCH DAYCARE.

GOOD EVENING --

I'M PETER BUSCH.

AND I'M KELLIE BURNS.

POLICE ARRESTED THIS COUPLE FOR SELLING--HYDROMORPHONE PILLS - A PAINKILLER STRONGER THAN OXYCODONE.

THIS WAS THE CULMINATION OF A TWO MONTH LONG INVESTIGATION.

POLICE SAY THEY GOT A TIP ABOUT DRUGS BEING SOLD OUT OF THIS HOME —

WHICH, BY THE WAY, HAPPENS TO SIT JUST A COUPLE HUNDRED FEET AWAY — FROM A CHURCH DAYCARE. Return to index of stories...

CAPE CORAL PILL BUST-PKG

SOT:

Harry Derring / Cape Coral

16:33:36 - 40

That's when I said to my wife. there's something going down over there.

NEIGHBORS LIVING ALONG SOUTHEAST 46TH STREET —

NOT AT ALL SURPRISED TO LEARN THIS COUPLE NEXT DOOR —

IS ACCUSED OF SELLING DRUGS OUT OF THEIR HOME.

SOT:

Harry Derring / Cape Coral

16:32:25 - 32

There was lot of traffic going in and out of the house, I mean, it was constant. Constant. I mean, different cars. We noticed it right away.

BUT WHAT IS SURPRISING TO NEIGHBORS — IS JUST HOW CLOSE THEIR HOME SITS TO THE FAMILY OF FAITH DAYCARE CENTER.

SOT:

Harry Derring / Cape Coral

16:32:56 - 33:07

That bothers me, cause I'm church going person. I go to church every Sunday. And to see stuff like this, on the street, pretty close to a church like that, its totally wrong.

CAPE CORAL POLICE STARTED INVESTIGATING GARY SEYFERT AND KELLY GEORGE LATE LAST YEAR — AFTER GETTING A TIP ABOUT POSSIBLE DRUG ACTIVITY.

UPON SEARCHING THEIR HOME — OFFICERS FOUND HYDROMORPHONE PILLS — A PAINKILLER STRONGER THAN OXYCODONE.

SOT:

Andy / Cape Coral

16:44:05 - 44:08

People are gutsy to do it around here like that.

THIS NEIGHBOR JOGS PAST THE COUPLES' HOME ALMOST EVERYDAY — AND WORRIES WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THOSE PILLS — FELL INTO THE WRONG HANDS.

SOT:

Andy / Cape Coral

44:49 - 44:57

You hate to see the children in jeopardy. I mean, Adults can fend for themselves, but children are very susceptible.

BOTH SEYFERT AND GEORGE ARE NOW CHARGED WITH SELLING DRUGS — WITHIN 1000 FEET OF A DAYCARE — WITH SEYFERT LATER BEING RELEASED ON BOND.

WE STOPPED BY THEIR HOME TODAY —

BUT HE COULD NOT BE REACHED FOR COMMENT.

SOT:

Harry Derring / Cape Coral

16:33:50 - 55

I'm happy for it. We finally got someone like them off the street.

16:32:42 - 47

The main thing is the kids in the neighborhood, because if they get hooked on this stuff, they're finished. So we got to stop it. Return to index of stories...

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-ON CAM

Forecast: Increasing humidity with some morning fog

Despite a broad area of unsettled weather influencing the weather over Florida, our part of the state can expect fairly quiet conditions tonight. Well after midnight temperatures will only fall into the low and mid 60s for most areas, with communities like Fort Myers and Cape Coral cooling off to around 63 degrees by sunrise on Wednesday morning.

Just like we had this morning, it will be possible for a few areas of patchy fog to develop during the morning commute times early on Wednesday. Though the visibility shouldn't drop to terribly low levels, keep it in mind as the times when it will likely be thickest is just after sunrise through the 8 a.m. hour tomorrow morning.

As we move into the forecast for Wednesday, humidity will be on the rise as dew point temperatures will pop up into the mid 60s from time to time. We'll call for a blend of sun and clouds during the day as afternoon highs charge into the upper 70s near 80 degrees. Temperatures this mild are above average for early January, as normally highs only top out around 74 degrees in the afternoon. Though a few rain showers can't be categorically ruled out in the afternoon, coverage of anything developing should stay isolated.

Boating conditions look fair on Wednesday with light northeast winds in the morning before turning onshore after lunchtime thanks to the sea breeze off the Gulf of Mexico. Smooth conditions are expected on the bays and inland waters, and no advisories are posted for the Gulf from the National Weather Service.

Our weather on Thursday and Friday should continue to be mild with afternoon highs in the upper 70s to around 80. If you're a fan of warm and humid weather soak it up while you can, because another cold front is forecast to move over South Florida between late Friday and Saturday. When it does this we'll need to account for at least the chance of a passing shower or two on Friday, but more noticeable will be the drop in temperatures. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be considerably cooler only topping out near 71 degrees on Saturday and 67 degrees on Sunday.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

INTENSE IMMIGRATION TALKS - PLAYING OUT FOR THE NATION TO SEE -

sot/ President Trump

"you guys are going to have to come up with a solution.and if you do I'm going to sign that solution"

FOR NEARLY AN HOUR - A ROOM FULL OF KEY DECISION MAKERS IN BOTH PARTIES- HASHING IT OUT - IN FRONT OF CAMERAS.

sot/ President Trump

"I think we have to do daca first"

sot/ Rep Kevin McCarty

"Mr President - i think we have to be clear - don't want to be back here in two years - need security TRUMP: "

REPUBLICANS - DEMANDING A HARD FIX ON IMMIGRATION.

THE MAIN ISSUE FOR DEMOCRATS? FIXING DACA AND PROTECTING SO-CALLED DREAMERS - UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS BROUGHT TO THE U.S. AS CHILDREN.

sot/ President Trump

"this should be a bipartisan bill, it should be a bill of love"

PRESIDENT TRUMP SUGGESTING - A TWO PART SOLUTION - FIRST - HANDLE DACA ---

THEN - MORE SWEEPING IMMIGRATION REFORM - INCLUDING THE BORDER WALL.

sot/ Sen. Mazie Hirono

"you want 18 billion for a wall or else no daca - is that still your position? TRUMP: yeah - i could build it for less"

BUT THE BI-PARTISAN MEETINGS - COULD RISK ALIENATING HIS BASE -

SOME REPUBLICANS *NOT* IN THE MEETING SAY A SOFT IMMIGRATION STANCE - MEANS BREAKING A CAMPAIGN PROMISE.

sot/ Rep. Steve King

"if he grants DACA amnesty, then, that's off the table"

BUT INSIDE THE ROOM -

sot/ Sen. Lindsey Graham

"you have an opportunity Mr President - you need to close the deal."

sot/ President Trump

"my positions are going to be what the people in this room come up with."

EVERYONE AGREEING - THEY WILL ALL HAVE TO GIVE A LITTLE. THE QUESTION - WILL IT BE ENOUGH? Return to index of stories...

FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA. Return to index of stories...
