The finer means and eats truck has been here in everglades city serving free meals to people who need it since right after Hurricane Irma. Now the amount of people coming to get these free meals has dwindled but they say there definitely is still a need.

PKG --

Why do people stil come to the Finer Meats and Eats truck for a free hot meal?

According to Kenny Crippen.

515 because we don't have no money we don't have no home we're just barely surviving by the thin thin thin and these people here are really helping out a lot

Doug Meyer from Minnesota runs the truck.

He says they're still serving around 60 to 80 meals a day.

1310 we continue to feed and help out. there's some rumors that the city doesn't want us here

The Mayor says it's time for Everglades City to get back on its feet. on its own.

Some say. to do that. the Finer Meats and Eats truck has got to go.

57 it was very good in the beginning when he was here and he served a purpose but now he's not serving no purpose

But some like Kenny say that's not true.

845 it is not fine, believe me

And if the food truck left. he'd be in a bad spot.

1025 you have to survive somehow but I don't know how and we're trying the best that we can

1520 it's the fact that the people in the community aren't being taken care of like they should be by their own community so we're going to stay here until it's done

But some are hoping. the truck will hit the road sooner rather than later.
