FIRST ALERT FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Forecast: Mild today, cold front tomorrow

Warm and humid air continues to hang over Southwest Florida on Thursday, meaning another mild start with temperatures in the 60s. Areas of dense fog will stick around for the early morning in DeSoto and Charlotte counties. Fog development in other areas including Lee and Collier counties will be not as widespread as yesterday. There will still be areas however with visibility under a half of a mile at times.

Conditions this afternoon will be partly cloudy and mainly dry, although a stray shower or two can't be ruled out. Temperatures will top out at around 80 degrees again today.

It will be another mild night with a few areas of fog and increasing cloud cover ahead of a cold front. By the afternoon and evening we will see a few showers and higher winds as the front passes.

Temperatures will begin to fall through the day on Saturday and bottom out in the 40s early Sunday morning. The weekend will be breezy and chilly with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the 50s and 60s for most of this timeframe.

We'll begin next week with lows in the 40s and highs only in the 60s but warm slightly by Tuesday afternoon. Another front is likely early next week which will hold our temperatures below average for the foreseeable future Return to index of stories...

SK 1:36 it is something that has really changed spine care quite a bit.

It's not a pill or a procedure—for back pain, doctors are now prescribing Pilates therapy.

SK 4:51 our Pilates therapy is not just like other therapies that you may have tried. BUTTED TO 1:42 it is

extremely powerful and patients are very receptive.

STANDUP: Pilates therapy focuses on breathing, movement and core strength. Patients are taught

different exercises to help alleviate back pain.

SK 5:14 it's probably one of the best therapies to train on strengthening the muscles, strengthening the

core, strengthening the spine.

NATS OF PILATES WITH KIM

Physical therapist Kim Piers works with patients who have had back pain for years.

2:26 once they kind of get on board with learning some of the basic principles with Pilates, they actually

can find it quite relaxing.

Pilates teaches patients how have mobility and stability in the spine.

1:21 no matter what the age is we all need to be able to control our spines. BUTTED TO 6:34 one of your

biggest principles is your use of breath. BUTTED TO 6:45 our breath will help to facilitate our movement.

Your diaphragm is a core muscle that works in harmony with your pelvic floor.

The different equipment helps patients improve posture and core strength.

2:36 we can lay down and still help to promote the stability and resistance but they don't have to be

upright right away, they don't have to be standing right away and there's comfort and less pain with

that.

Pilates can also help some patients with hip pain, foot pain, hip replacements or knee replacements. The

exercises can be used at home to help them continue to manage their pain. For Lee Health I'm Lindsey
