Today's Weather Story

Forecast: Mild today, cold front tomorrow

Warm and humid air continues to hang over Southwest Florida on Thursday, meaning another mild start with temperatures in the 60s. Areas of dense fog will stick around for the early morning in DeSoto and Charlotte counties. Fog development in other areas including Lee and Collier counties will be not as widespread as yesterday. There will still be areas however with visibility under a half of a mile at times.

Conditions this afternoon will be partly cloudy and mainly dry, although a stray shower or two can't be ruled out. Temperatures will top out at around 80 degrees again today.

It will be another mild night with a few areas of fog and increasing cloud cover ahead of a cold front. By the afternoon and evening we will see a few showers and higher winds as the front passes.

Temperatures will begin to fall through the day on Saturday and bottom out in the 40s early Sunday morning. The weekend will be breezy and chilly with lots of sunshine and temperatures in the 50s and 60s for most of this timeframe.

We'll begin next week with lows in the 40s and highs only in the 60s but warm slightly by Tuesday afternoon. Another front is likely early next week which will hold our temperatures below average for the foreseeable future.

FEDERAL AGENTS SAY THESE RAIDS ARE A FOLLOW-UP TO AN INVESTIGATION THAT STARTED FIVE YEARS AGO IN THE NORTHEAST.

IN 2013 -

IMMIGRATION AGENTS ARRESTED NINE 7-ELEVEN FRANCHISE OWNERS FOR HIDING UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS -

STEALING THEIR IDENTITES AND MONEY.

THEY WERE ORDERED TO PAY TWO-POINT-SIX MILLION DOLLARS IN BACK PAY

In 2013, HSI conducted an investigation into various 7-Eleven franchises that resulted in the arrest of nine franchise owners and managers for conspiring to commit wire fraud, stealing identities and concealing and harboring illegal aliens employed at their stores. All but one, who remained a fugitive until his arrest in November 2017, pleaded guilty and were ordered to pay more than $2.6 million in restitution for back wages stolen from workers.

Today's service of NOIs throughout the United States serves as a follow-up to ensure the company has taken the proper steps towards more responsible hiring and employment practices. Return to index of stories...
