FIRST WEATHER-WX WALL

Forecast: Wind chill becomes a factor tonight

We are starting off the weekend calm and pleasant in Southwest Florida. Temperatures are in the 60s and will stay there for most of the day. We'll only top out in the upper 60s around midday with partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies.

Temperatures this afternoon will actually fall as we get later in the day as arctic air spreads across Florida and the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Temperatures will be in the 50s by late afternoon and dip into the 40s between 9 p.m. and midnight. Make sure to bring a jacket if you're out late on Saturday and you'll definitely need an extra layer Sunday morning.

Tonight winds will pick up as the arctic air rushes in, meaning not only will it be a colder night, wind chill will play a role in how it feels on Sunday. Wind chill will make it feel like the low to mid 30s across Southwest Florida tomorrow morning! Air temperatures will drop into the low 40s with a few inland areas like Arcadia reaching the upper 30s. Because of the windy weather, chances for frost are pretty low.

The cool and windy weather continues through Sunday with highs only in the mid 60s. For the new week a short-lived warming trend will get us to the 70s by Tuesday afternoon, but overall it will remain quite a bit cooler than normal. Another cold front is expected on Wednesday which will bring another shot of arctic air that will send temperatures falling again for late in the week.

GOOD MORNING-2-SHOT

GOOD MORNING

THANKS FOR WATCHING N-B-C-2 NEWS TODAY--

I'M NATE FOY.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE NBC2 WEATHER STAFF.
