THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Patchy fog burns off quickly this morning, yielding to anther mostly sunny day as afternoon temperatures rise to the upper 70s along the coastline and low 80s inland. With low humidity, it will be a very comfortable afternoon. Winds start off light this morning, then pick up out of the northwest at 10 mph this afternoon, occasionally gusting to 15-20 mph.
Another clear and cool night sets up tonight with overnight lows falling back into the mid to upper 50s.
Not much changes for tomorrow as mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 80s headline the weather.
As winds turn out of the northeast and then east by the middle part of next week, we'll start to see a few more clouds mix in with the sunshine on Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs both days still reach the low 80s. If there's going to be enough moisture to wring out a sprinkle or isolated shower, it'll be from Thursday on, but I wouldn't count on much rain.

AS LAWMAKERS BATTLE TO GET A HEALTH CARE BILL THROUGH THE CONGRESS, SOME AMERICANS ARE WAGING THEIR OWN FIGHT TO STAY HEALTHY.
ELAINE QUIJANO HAS THE STORY FROM THE NATION'S CAPITAL.
Return to index of stories...
58-YEAR-OLD CARY CALDWELL NEVER IMAGINED STRUGGLING. LIKE THIS: "I'm working all the time, not making a whole lot of money and don't have any health insurance." FOR 39-YEARS. SHE WORKED AND PAID INTO AN EMPLOYER-SPONSORED HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN. BUT THE ECONOMIC DOWNTURN SUDDENLY LEFT CALDWELL WITHOUT A JOB. AND WITHOUT HEALTH INSURANCE. AT FIRST, SHE TRIED PAYING FOR HEALTH CARE HERSELF, BUT WITHOUT HER EMPLOYER PICKING UP HALF THE COST. SHE FOUND INSURANCE OUT OF REACH. "That's a lot to me. $343 a month when you don't have steady income, it's like saying $3,000 a month. I just plain didn't have that kind of money." SO CALDWELL, WHO SUFFERS FROM DIABETES, HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AND HIGH CHOLESTEROL, IS DOING WITHOUT THREE OF THE FOUR MEDICATIONS SHE NEEDS. "I don't know what my blood pressure is, and I don't want to know." SHE WORKS FOUR PART-TIME JOBS, BUT DOESN'T HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE FROM ANY OF THEM. ONE OF HER BOSSES, JOHN WEINTRAUB, A CO-OWNER OF FRAGER'S HARDWARE, WANTS TO CHANGE THAT: "We don't know if we can afford to put her on the plan." AS A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER, WEINTRAUB SAYS POLITICIANS HAVEN'T DONE A GOOD JOB EXPLAINING. HOW HEALTH CARE LEGISLATION MIGHT BENEFIT HIM. AND IN TURN, HIS STAFF OF 50 EMPLOYEES. "We can't understand that is the big thing. We don't understand what is truly going on." WEINTRAUB SAYS THE HEALTH CARE PLAN HE OFFERS EMPLOYEES -- WENT UP THIS YEAR -- COSTING 30-PERCENT MORE THAN LAST YEAR. THAT'S AFFECTED HIS BOTTOM LINE -- AND HIS ABILITY TO HELP HIS STAFF. INCLUDING CARY CALDWELL. "I'm doing everything I can do. How can the system help me live like a normal person and have the health care I need? FOR NOW, SHE'S TAKING A MAJOR GAMBLE -- FOREGOING THAT EXPENSIVE MEDICINE FOR HER DIABETES - - A DISEASE SHE KNOWS FULL WELL -- CAN LEAD TO BLINDNESS, KIDNEY DISEASE, AMPUTATION OR STROKE. "I'm living on borrowed time now. and the situation isn't helping that. I feel good. "But I don't know what the future holds. " standup PRESIDENT OBAMA WANTS TO GET A HEALTH CARE BILL ON HIS DESK BY THE END OF THE YEAR. BUT WITH THAT DEADLINE LOOMING IN LESS THAN SEVEN WEEKS, AND LAWMAKERS DEEPLY DIVIDED OVER COST AND THE PUBLIC OPTION, IT'S NOT AT ALL CLEAR WHETHER THE PRESIDENT WILL GET HIS WISH. ELAINE QUIJANO, CNN, WASHINGTON.

PRESIDENT OBAMA HAD A VERY IMPORTANT MEETING TODAY IN SINGAPORE, BUT IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE APEC SUMMIT.
ABC'S JAKE TAPPER HAS THE DETAILS.
Return to index of stories...
President Obama here to Singapore for the Asian Pacific economic cooperation 's summit. His first one as president and after posing for the traditional class photo in native garb. He got to work talking about economic and trade issues, but even though he's at this APEC summit the most important meeting he had was not with an Asian leader and had nothing to do with economics. He had a bilateral meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev where they talked about nuclear non-proliferation issues, specifically, the Obama administration is now admitting they will not make the December 5th deadline for the old US-Russia START treaty when that expires for a new treaty. They are now working two agreements - one a new treaty to have nuclear disarmament by both US and Russia's military, but also a bridge treaty so that they can extend when the old treaty expires on December 5th to the time the new one takes effect after being ratified by the Russian Duma and the US Senate. President Obama and Medvedev also talked about Iran's nuclear program and attempts to get the enriched uranium out of that country and what to do if Iran continues to go against the will of the international community what sanctions the U-S and Russia will support against Iran. There was also some time for President Obama to update the Russian President on his status on coming up with a new strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan. One bit of environmental news came this morning during a briefing from the leaders of the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit talking to president Obama and others. There is finally some acknowledgement that because of disagreement among major polluters among China and India they will not be an actual agreement in Copenhagen this December. So even though President Obama has been here for less than a day, this summit has been filled with lots of disappointing news on the international front, Jake ABC News Singapore.

CHRIS AD LIBS
