FIRST WEATHER

This week, the weather pattern will settle back into what one might expect during the summer in Southwest Florida, morning sun and a few afternoon thunderstorms.

It will also be mild, but not abnormally hot for this time of the year. Our normal high temperature is 91º. With highs between 92º and 94º over the next seven days, we're running slightly above normal.

Tuesday will start with a clear sky and temperatures in the middle 70s. Sunshine will give way to afternoon clouds and by 3PM, thunderstorms will start to pop east of I-75. The high is expected to be 94º in Fort Myers, cooler at the beaches and slightly warmer deep inland.

As you make your 4th of July holiday plans, expect more of the same as far as the weather is concerned. Sunshine will lend itself to afternoon and early evening thunderstorms with a high of 93º.

The rain chance is 30% on the 4th, so fireworks displays in most areas should be able to be set off without any delays. Return to index of stories...

RAIN PROSPECTS INCREASING

As of right now, high pressure continues to be in play with our weather.

It's created a very stable atmosphere full of sunshine, a few clouds, and little rain. That in turn has allowed our temperatures to heat up to the lower 90s, but when one mixes in the humidity - it felt much warmer!

There will be a day similar to Monday, we'll call it Tuesday. Mostly sunny, a few showers, and temperatures in the lower to mid 90s. As we head through the week, temperatures will maintain there place, but our rain prospects increase.

Boating and beach goers that means good news for you. We look to have a nice day, winds will be variable early and coming onshore by the afternoon. They'll stay around 10 knots. Seas about 2 feet, with a light chop for the inland waterways.

Fourth of July will be mostly sunny with scattered storms. Some soaking for your cookouts, so get ready. It won't ruin your plans though! Just brief showers that clear out after sunset. Get ready for the fireworks!

Thursday and Friday will be partly sunny with highs in the 90s, light winds from the east, and scattered storms. Moisture will increase for the weekend which will allow more storms to percolate throughout the day. Does it put a dent in the heat? Not a chance! Highs will continue in the mid 90s.
