THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
SCATTERED STORMS TO START THE WEEK
First Alert Radar picked up on isolated downpours Sunday. The trend is for them to cover more ground in the next 7 days.
Why? High pressure is off the western Atlantic. With its current position our winds have slacked. They're very calm, and that allows the daily sea breeze to form. There is ample moisture, thus the sea breeze acts as an emphasis for storms.
They'll clear out overnight, and Monday morning looks fine. However, it'll be humid! Lows will be in the 70s, and under partly sunny skies we'll heat up to 93. Obviously with the sea breeze setting up our coastal communities will be cooler.
Remember this is the rainy season. This week will show it, too. Every afternoon storms will billow during the afternoon. The best chance to get wet will be early Tuesday through Tuesday afternoon as a piece of energy slides over the southern peninsula of Florida. Wednesday the every will be to our west, and that'll allow the typical afternoon storms to return.
Temperatures will continue to be hot and muggy. Highs in the 90s and lows in the 70s.
Your beach and boating forecast looks fine. Winds from the NE at 5 to 10 knots and seas will have a light chop. Oh, and don't forget about the afternoon storms!
Play it safe if you head out! Be prepared for frequent lightning.

THE FIRE IS IN SUCH A THICK AREA OF VEGETATION FLORIDA FOREST SERVICE SAYS IT SPANS 35 ACRES- SOME OF THE FIRE JUMPED INTO THE MEDIAN LEADING TO LANE CLOSURES.
THEY'RE FIGHTING THIS FIRE -- THEY BELIEVE IS HAPPENING IN THREE DIFFERENT LOCATIONS -- BY AIR AND ON THE GROUND
IT'S NOT THREATENING ANY HOMES AND IS IN AN ISOLATED AREA. BUT THE THICKNESS OF BRUSH IS MAKING IT HARD TO GET TO THE FIRE AND CONTROL IT.
FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL WILL MONITOR IT ALL NIGHT TO MAKE SURE THEY DON'T NEED TO SHUT DOWN ANY MORE LANES ON THE INTERSTATE BECAUSE OF VISIBILITY PROBLEMS.
THEY SHUT DOWN BOTH NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND LANES AROUND 5 THIS EVENING AFTER THE FIRE JUMPED THE MEDIAN.

This is the view by Sanibel islands blind pass which flows between Sanibel and captiva.
Nats-
Dredging equipment sits just feet away. getting ready to funnel sand back to beach.
The project is designed to clear the pass and bring more sand to less than half of a mile to the beach.

Looked good. This is very shallow out here. I have a kayaked out here so it does need to be dredged from time to time.
Kent garrison noticed the work being dine- He also found fewer parking spaces here.
Crews blocked off about 12 spots in the lot just north of the pass on Captiva.
Garrison says it took him over an hour to finally find one.
And even then- it wasnt easy.
8 09 18
We just had a bit of an encounter here. A woman jumped the line. I had to get out and politely explain there was a line.
It took even those who frequent the island like Ron Romero longer than usual to find a space.
8 11 42. 51
The parkings been a little tight. Normally I just get right into a space
Lee county officials say they worked with the contractors to try and take up as few spaces as possible.
But there's only so much space available on the island.
Nats
Crews are using other beach access areas on the island to keep some spaces here open.
But even though it took extra time to find a spot-
For some this beach is worth it.
8 12 00 05
It took me about 15 minutes but I love it out here.

WHEN YOU HEAR 'COMPUTER VIRUS,' SOMETHING LIKE THIS SCENE FROM "HACKERS" MAY COME TO MIND.
BUT IN MOST CASES. these VIRUSES ARE SILENT AND INVISIBLE.LURKING INSIDE YOUR COMPUTER.
LIKE THE DNS CHANGER VIRUS. WHICH ON MONDAY THREATENS TO LEAVE THOUSANDS WITHOUT INTERNET ACCESS.
"Cyber crime cases are more difficult than other types of cases. They're very complex and they span the globe."
THE VIRUS REDIRECTS YOUR INTERNET REQUEST TO IMPOSTER WEBSITES. IT HAS ALREADY ATTACKED MORE THAN A HALF A MILLION COMPUTERS.
It was absolutely brilliant what these guys were doing. They had found a way to tap into one of the most lucrative sources of money on the internet and that's online advertising.
LAST FALL THE F-B-I BUSTED THE RING IN "OPERATION GHOST CLICK". IT THEN REDIRECTED USERS TO A SAFETY NET. UT THE SAFETY NET EXPIRES TOMORROW. WHICH SOME ARE CALLING "INTERNET DOOMSDAY."
THE GOOD NEWS: THERE'S STILL TIME TO CHECK WHETHER OR NOT YOU'VE BEEN INFECTED.
All they need to do is go to DNS-CO.US. They'll see a screen come up and either it'll be green, which means okay, or red.if its red that means you're infected by the virus.
IF YOU ARE INFECTED, YOU CAN FIX THE PROBLEM USING A FREE KIT ON THE ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE SITE KASPERSKY.
you're looking for TDS killer, install the software, once it's installed, go ahead and open it, just like you would anything you're installing. Click on yes once it shows up, you'll see it goign through its process to install, it's going to scan your computer, look for threats, and remove any traces of the virus on your system.
THE FBI WARNS THERE COULD BE MORE VIRUSES LIKE THIS IN THE FUTURE.
I don't believe this is the first we've seen of it and I don't believe it'll be the last either.
EXPERTS SAY SAFEGUARD YOUR COMPUTER NOW. UPDATE YOUR ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE. AND DON'T CLICK ON ANYTHING THAT SEEMS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

IT'S AN AMAZING STORY OF SURVIVAL.
A BABY GOLDEN EAGLE LIVED UP TO IT'S NEW NAME PHOENIX AFTER HE ROSE FROM THE ASHES OF ONE OF UTAH'S WILDFIRES.
AS TODD TANNER REPORTS, A WILDLIFE EXPERT WENT TO THE EAGLES' NESTING GROUND, EXPECTING TO FIND A FIRE VICTIM.
.INSTEAD HE DISCOVERED A SOLE SURVIVOR.
Return to index of stories...
"For him to survive something like that is just outstanding. There's just no words for it."
THE STORY OF THIS EAGLE STARTS ON JUNE 1ST WHEN HE WAS PHOTOGRAPHED BY KENT KELLER.
"He is a bird bander, so he goes up and bands these birds in the nest. That gives us longevity records of what's going on with the nesting behaviors."
AND IN THIS NEST ON A LEDGE HIGH ABOVE THE COMMUNITY OF EAGLE MOUNTAIN.
"He was the single baby in the nest."
ON JUNE 21ST, THE HUMAN CAUSED "DUMP" FIRE BEGAN BURNING. THOUSANDS OF ACRES WERE CONSUMED OVER SEVERAL DAYS, INCLUDING THE NEST SITE WITH THE EAGLET TOO YOUNG TO FLY. KENT RETURNED SEVERAL DAYS LATER.
"He basically went back to retrieve a band. he went to close out the information, the data on the band." "So he went back thinking he was going to find a dead bird?" "Right, right."
BUT THIS SYMBOL OF FREEDOM WAS FOUND ALIVE.ON THE FOURTH OF JULY. NOW NAMED PHOENIX, THIS EAGLE TRULY DID RISE FROM THE ASHES.
"The flames had to engulf his body because they're on the top of his head his back the under his wings they are on his legs."
"You can see the shafts up here, still growing, but they're pretty much done for."
HANDLERS SAY PHOENIX HAS A LONG WAY TO GO, BUT HIS FUTURE LOOKS PROMISING.
"We're hoping to release him. That's our goal is to get him back out into the wild."
