RAINY WEATHER ALL THIS WEEK
Sunshine is in full force across southwest Florida, and that's letting our temperatures get into the mid 90s. Moisture is in high demand as well so it feels oppressive.
The afternoon sea breeze only gives only a slight relief. The beach areas will be in the upper 80s, but as one gets away from the beach it'll quickly warm back into the 90s. I mentioned the moisture being readily available so when the heat and moisture are mixed together, heat indices will be at or near 100 during peak heating hours.
Our typical high pressure sits off of the western Atlantic. They tend to bring light winds, and this one is no different. The winds have been calm around our area, and that allows the sea breeze to form. Take the sea breeze, add the heat, add the moisture, and presto we have storms billowing. This is the only way to see a cool down from the July heat, and the downpours will be confined to along I-75.
They'll move through quickly, but also pack a nice punch. They'll drop heavy rain, lots of lightning, and powerful winds. The storms will dismember by late evening, and we'll be in store for a partly cloudy to mostly clear sky through the overnight.
Increasing tropical moisture will bring a few changes to our forecast starting Tuesday, so look for more cloud cover and perhaps an earlier start to the rain through Wednesday. They'll be widely scattered if not numerous in natures. Temperatures will be effected and won't be quite so hot; however, they'll still get into the low 90s.
For the second half of the week, we'll see a mix of sun and clouds during the day and clearing skies during the overnights and early mornings. High temperatures will range from the low to mid 90s with lows in the mid to upper 70s. We'll also continue to see those hit or miss showers and storms during the afternoon, and this pattern will stay with us through the upcoming weekend.
