530AM~STORMWARN FORECAST-WXWALL

Our active rainy season pattern will flex its muscle once again as several showers and thunderstorms fire up this Wednesday afternoon. Today's storms will also have plentiful moisture and lots of energy to tap into, so we'll again see the potential for strong storms capable of producing powerful winds, blinding rain, and intense lightning.

At least the morning will get off to a quiet start with only a few showers wandering out over the Gulf. Additionally, we'll enjoy a mix of clouds and sunshine along with warm and muggy conditions as temperatures stay in the 70s and 80s through the morning.

By the mid to late afternoon, storms will begin developing, expanding in coverage as the afternoon wears on. The chance of getting hit by rainy or stormy weather today will be pretty high with rain probabilities between 60-70%. The storms will generally be moving from east to west.

By sunset, our sky will start to quiet down as the rain begins to fade and drift offshore into the Gulf of Mexico. We'll be left with a partly cloudy sky along with mild and muggy conditions and lows in the mid to upper 70s.

We'll rinse and repeat this forecast on Thursday. The morning will start dry and mostly sunny, and then some big storms will start developing by the mid to late afternoon, lingering into the evening.

Rain chances will likely drop a little starting Friday, but we'll still see our typical pattern of afternoon showers and thunderstorms through the weekend and into next week. The bottom line is each afternoon over the next seven days will present a decent chance of seeing a shower or storms.

Our high temperatures will continue to run close to average. We'll see low to mid 90s inland and mid to upper 80s along the coast. Return to index of stories...

All these scratch marks, and little divets in the car are all peacock attacks.

A PAIR OF PEACOCKS PROWLING THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

VO

"They're beautiful, they're Indian peacocks."

AND APPARENTLY FIGHTING THE CARS.

S/Renee Bylinowski / Peacock Victim

"I came out to water my plants one morning and they were actually beating themselves up against the car."

S Ray Spencer / Peacock Victim

He thinks that he's seeing uh another male in that black car reflection

RAY SPENCER'S NEW CAR HAD BEEN A PEAFOWL PUNCHING BAG. ANOTHER FAMILY CAUGHT AN ATTACK ON VIDEO.

VO

"And he just goes after it and kicks it and stomps it and pecks at it."

THE CAR'S OWNERS SAY THE BEAK DENTS HAVE CAUSED ALMOST $2-THOUSAND DOLLARS OF DAMAGE.

RENEE BYLINOWSKI SAYS THE BIRDS HAVE BEEN AROUND THREE MONTHS. NO ONE WILL COME GET THEM.

S/ Renee Bylinowski / Peacock Victim

Animal control considers them wildlife, so they will not come remove the peacocks. Fish and game consider them domestic. / So they're not fish and wildlife's department. we're responsible to hire a trapper to get them removed.

S/ Carlee Staple / Peacock Victim

"It's been like everybody passes the buck. Nobody quite knows who handles recovering a peacock out of a neighborhood."

SO BYLINOWSKI IS PAYING SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR A TRAPPER.

the last he was down here in the corner, actually he was right where we caught the female.

THEY CAUGHT THE FEMALE FRIDAY. BUT THE MALE IS STILL RUFFLING FEATHERS.

S/ Chris Carlson / Trapper

SO THEY'RE USING THE FEMALE AS BAIT.

6AM ~ ROBOTIC CANCER SURGERY-PKG

THE FACT THAT 16 YEAR OLD JONATHAN MUNIZ IS PLAYING HIS SAXOPHONE IS INCREDIBLE.

JUST THREE WEEKS AGO HE WAS ON A RESPIRATOR BEFORE BECOMING ONE OF THE FIRST TEENS IN THE WORLD TO UNDERGO ROBOTIC SURGERY FOR LUNG CANCER.

A RARE TYPE OF LUNG CANCER USUALLY SEEN IN ADULTS.

"It was just like 16 year old doesn't get cancer in the lung doesn't smoke doesn't drink."

"And the way they were describing the tumor itself it was quite extensive and it was like oh my god."

"You know I was thinking all of the bad things that could happen I was scared out of my mind."

A NORMAL LUNG SHOULD LOOK LIKE THE ONE ON YOUR RIGHT. BLACK BECAUSE IT'S FILLED WITH AIR. THE OTHER SIDE IS OBSTRUCTED BY A LARGE GROWTH.

USING A ROBOTIC ARM SURGEON MARK DYLEWSKI WAS ABLE CUT OUT THE CANCER, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY RECONNECT THE AIRWAY. A COMPLEX PROCEDURE CALLED A SLEEVE RESECTION.

"We were able to spare his lower and middle lobe and just take out the upper lobe with a portion of that main airway. This operation was basically done through 3, 8 millimeter incisions and that has never been done anywhere in the world to my knowledge."

JONATHAN CAME OUT OF SURGERY ABLE TO BREATHE ON HIS OWN.

"It was really hard breathing before nice that I was breathing fine.

"We were counting our blessings for that day yes."

THIS IS MORE THAN MUSIC TO THEIR EARS. IT'S THE SOUND OF HOPE.

JONATHAN'S SURGEON SAYS THERE'S LESS THAN A 5 PER CENT CHANCE OF THE LUNG CANCER EVER COMING BACK. Return to index of stories...
