Jerry Sandusky was found guilty of child molestation last month, and today
we hear the verdict for legendary coach Joe Paterno and his beloved Penn
State University.
SOT ROGER COSSACK/ESPN LEGAL ANALYST THERE'S A GREAT DEAL AT STAKE
The Paterno legacy symbolized by the bronze statue outside the football
stadium that dominates Happy Valley Pennsylvania is already tarnished
but today ABC news has learned the college football icon will be criticized
by the University sanctioned Louis Freeh report for what appears to his role
in keeping Sandusky's conduct a secret back in 2001.
SOT TOM KLINE/ATTORNEY FOR VICTIM # 5 MR. PATERNO WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF
THE CRUCIAL DECISION WHICH COULD HAVE AND SHOULD HAVE STOPPED MR. SANDUSKY
DEAD IN HIS TRACKS."
Instead, says the attorney for victim #5 emails already leaked to several
news organizations accuse Coach Paterno of steering University
administrators in a different direction. Away from authorities and instead
into a private talk with Sandusky.

Coach Paterno is not around to defend himself. He died in December. But in
anticipation of a damaging report his family released a death bed statement
in which JOPA, as he was known at Penn State says no matter what happened in
the Sandusky scandal it was not a football problem and the team should not
be punished. "THIS IS NOT A FOOTBALL SCANDAL AND SHOULD NOT BE TREATED AS
ONE."
SOT ROGER COSSACK/ESPN LEGAL ANALYSTIF IT LOOKS LIKE THE REPORT IS TRYING TO
HIDE SOMETHING THEN NOT ONLY IS IT BAD, ITS WORSE FOR PENN STATE.

Return to index of stories...
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Our Thursday morning will get off to a fairly quiet start, however a few showers and storms continue to linger out across the Gulf of Mexico. This will give our coastal communities the chance for an isolated downpour early this morning.
Otherwise it's a mild and muggy start across the area with temperatures in the middle and upper 70s. Mostly cloudy skies this morning will give way to a mix of sun and clouds through the afternoon hours. This will allow temperatures to warm near 90° this afternoon.
Our prevailing winds remain from the south and southeast, which will continue to keep tropical moisture across the area. This combined with a little daytime heating and the seabreeze will keep scattered storms in the forecast with the better coverage during the afternoon and evening hours especially across the urban corridor.
Friday and into the weekend, we'll return to more of a typical July weather pattern where our mornings will start off mostly sunny and dry with the chance for afternoon storms.
Temperatures through the week remain in the lower half of the 90s with lows in the middle 70s.
For now, the tropics are all quiet in the Atlantic Basin.

BG: I think a lot of women would say, you know, the process of delivery isn
't "beautiful."
ML: 0506 I completely agree with that. I am super squeamish about all the
yuckyness that happens at birth, and have no interested in seeing it but I
wanted to see my husband meeting our baby for the first time, and me meeting
our baby for the first time.

BG: 1035 what would you say to someone who says you know, all of this is

myself in the room with my baby.
ML: 1043 M I totally get that, I mean I think it's a really personal choice.
