THE ACCUSED GUNMAN IN THE COLORADO SHOOTING IS EXPECTED TO BE IN COURT IN JUST A FEW HOURS-
JAMES HOLMES WILL GO BEFORE A JUDGE FOR THE FIRST TIME AT 11:30.
ABC'S DAVID MUIR HAS THE VERY LATEST THIS MORNING FROM COLORADO-
Return to index of stories...
For the first time - in this exclusive video obtained by ABC News-- we see
and hear James Holmes - at 18 years old.
"Hi I'm James."
A thin teenager in an oversize shirt also wearing-- a hint of a smile.
The video taken 6 years ago while Holmes was at a summer science camp. The
woman introducing him -- describing an intelligent teen. with a future:
"His goals are to become a researcher and to make scientific discoveries. /
/ He enjoys playing soccer and strategy games and his dream is to own a
slurpee machine. KEEP LAUGHS.
Laughter from the audience and a grin from Holmes
"Over the course of the summer I've been working with a Temporal Illusion."
Authorities are now asking, what changed him?
This morning, ABC News is learning more about James Holmes. Just last month
he allegedly applied online for a membership to a local gun range. On the
application he allegedly said he did not use drugs. Nor was he a convicted
felon.
ABC News has learned the gun RANGE owner called the suspect SEVERAL times to
invite him to orientation -- he SAYS HOLMES never called back -- and that
the recording on the suspects phone was 'bizarre, freakish.'
Holmes is now in solitary confinement. And in a one on one, the Police Chief
revealing to us - the suspect's parents - are remaining silent.
SOT at 16:29:40 They are NOT talking to us right now. Maybe that will
change, but right now they are not talking to us."
MUIR 16:27:15: How tough is it going to be to for this community to see
the suspect in court?
Chief: / I mean he has harmed so many people. Not only the victims, but
all of their extended families. So I think it will be VERY hard."

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SPENT TIME WITH VICTIMS -- OF THE COLORADO SHOOTING YESTERDAY.
TODAY, BOTH THE PRESIDENT AND MITT ROMNEY RESUME THEIR PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS, AFTER TAKING THE WEEKEND OFF, TO HONOR THE VICTIMS.
AND LIKE IT OR NOT. THE ATTACK HAS ADDED GUN CONTROL TO THE LIST OF TALKING POINTS.
BRIAN MOOAR REPORTS FROM WASHINGTON.
Return to index of stories...
IN AURORA, COLORADO. PRESIDENT OBAMA OFFERED WORDS OF COMFORT TO A COMMUNITY SHAKEN BY TRAGEDY.
"My main task was to serve as representative of entire country and let them know we are thinking about them now and each day and that the awareness that not only all of america but the world is thinking about them would serve some comfort."
THE THEATER MASSACRE HAS NOT ONLY CHANGED LIVES. IT'S SHAPED THE NATIONAL AGENDA - AT LEAST FOR A TIME.
THE PRESIDENT AND REPUBLICAN CHALLENGER MITT ROMNEY PUT THEIR CAMPAIGNS ON HOLD OVER THE WEEKEND OUT OF RESPECT FOR THE VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS.
AT A SAN FRANCISCO FUND RAISER LAST NIGHT. ROMNEY SAID HE'D TONE DOWN HIS MESSAGE - AND JOINED PRESIDENT OBAMA IN SUPPORTING THE PEOPLE OF AURORA.
TODAY. THOUGH. THE POLITICAL FIGHT HEATS UP AGAIN.
AND INEVITABLY. GUN CONTROL HAS BECOME AN ELECTION-YEAR TALKING POINT.
Wisconsin/ "FOX NEWS SUNDAY"
"I really would hate to see a tragedy like this used to promote a political agenda to reduce American's freedoms."
/ "FOX NEWS SUNDAY"
"I think this is a bad time to embrace a new subject, but there has been no action. There has been no action because there is no outrage out there. People haven't rallied forward."
GUN CONTROL HASN'T BEEN A MAJOR TALKING POINT FOR EITHER OF THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES.
BUT AFTER A TRAGEDY LIKE AURORA. IT'S AN ISSUE HARD TO IGNORE IN AN ELECTION YEAR.

WEATHER IS COMING UP.
Return to index of stories...
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
looks like another day of rain and storms is in the works for Southwest Florida as the atmosphere remains overloaded with tropical moisture.
We'll start the day under a partly cloudy sky along with some very mild temperatures in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Also, look for some pockets of isolated, spotty rain moving from south to north.
By the late morning hours through the early afternoon, we'll see more rain develop as the atmosphere starts to heat up. Keep in mind that some of the rain could be quite heavy, and we'll also see the potential for some very intense lightning and gusty winds.
It appears the best chance of rain for most of us will be from the mid morning through the mid afternoon.
Tonight will be pretty quiet in terms of our rain chances. Otherwise, our sky will stay partly cloudy, and temperatures will only cool to the mid to upper 70s.
On Tuesday we may start out with some morning coastal showers and then some rain and storms by the late afternoon. Rain chances will also be a few notches lower Tuesday, so the rain won't be nearly as widespread.
The tropical moisture we'll have had for a few days will head for the exit gates Wednesday as a layer of dry, stable air settles over Southwest Florida, reducing our rain chances and bringing some pretty toasty temperatures.
For the first part of the week , temperatures will range from the upper 80s and lower 90s, but as soon as the drier air arrives, our afternoon highs will be a few degrees above average with most spots seeing mid to upper 90s. The heat index will be in the 100-105 range.
Our rain chances look to stay fairly low through the upcoming weekend.

REBECCA CAIN IS ADJUSTING TO LIFE AS A NEW MOM. HER NEWBORN BABY GIRL NOW HAS HER SHOPPING FOR THINGS SHE'D NEVER SHOPPED FOR BEFORE.
"I was shopping for some baby clothes, babies outgrow clothes pretty quickly and i was looking for some value priced play clothes for the summer and Old Navy ran a special that was only good for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday."
FINDING A SPECIAL ON PARTICULAR DAYS IS COMMON ACCORDING TO JEFF NOBBS, CEO OF THE WEBSITE EXTRABUX.COM. WHICH ALSO HELPS CONSUMERS "BANK" MONEY.
"They just search for Target on our site they click our link to Target, and we receive a commission from Target on anything they purchase, we keep a little bit of that and pass the rest to the shopper as cash back."
REBECCA'S BEEN USING THE SITE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW. HAVING STARTED WHEN SHE WAS PLANNING HER WEDDING.
"I've racked up close to a thousand dollars in cash back from the site over time. for doing nothing more than going to the site and clicking."
JEFF TELLS US, EXTRABUX TRACKS WHAT THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE SHOPPING FOR. AND WHEN. AND ALSO THE PRICE HISTORY OF THE ITEMS.
"We had a hunch that the prices change and would fluctuate throughout the week, depending on which day of the week it was. So we took all this data, we analyzed it, and we found some pretty cool trends."
THEY FOUND THAT THE BEST DAY OF THE WEEK TO GET A DEAL ON CONSUMER ELECTRONICS. IS ON A MONDAY.
SAME DAY FOR VIDEOGAMES AND TV'S.
"Our thesis there is that shoppers are doing a bit of window shopping throughout the weekend, they're not necessarily buying online. Then Monday morning comes around, when most people do their online purchasing, so retailers want to have their price as low as possible."
ANOTHER ITEM COMMONLY PURCHASED ONLINE, JEWELRY. AND JEFF SAYS *WOMEN* ARE THE MAIN ONES LOOKING FOR THAT ONLINE.
"Wednesday is the cheapest day of the week to buy jewelry."
BEST DAY TO BUY A BOOK. SATURDAYS!
AND IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A HOME APPLIANCE, HOLD OFF UNTIL SUNDAY.
"Sunday is probably when home appliance projects are top of mind. So a lot of shoppers are out there looking for microwaves and dishwashers, and ovens. And so retailers want to make sure their prices are great on Sundays for those items."

REEDA WARDEN IS BEING TREATED BY DR. DIANA ATTAI FOR RECENTLY DIAGNOSED BREAST CANCER.
REEDA TOLD ATTAI SHE WANTED TO MAKE SURE SHE REALLY HAD CANCER BECAUSE OF A PAST EXPERIENCE WHERE DOCTORS NEARLY DID A MASTECTOMY ON HER BY MISTAKE.
"I've had an experience in a hospital where they confused the patients. this is very serious."
IT WAS NEARLY A TRAGIC MISTAKE. MANY WOMEN ARE VICTIMIZED BY SIMILAR MISTAKES WITHOUT EVER BEING WARNED BECAUSE OF A SIMPLE LAB ERROR.
"There have been reports of women for example who have had a breast biopsy, been told that they have cancer, and then underwent a mastectomy or complete removal of the breast and it was found that they actually didn't have cancer. It was someone else's needle biopsy specimen."
ATTAI TOLD REEDA SHE CAN PREVENT THE DEVASTATION WITH THIS SIMPLE KIT. THE KIT CONTAINS MATERIALS TO MAKE SURE THE BIOPSY IS REALLY THE PATIENT'S BY MATCHING THE BIOPSY DNA TO ANOTHER PART OF THE BODY.
"The kit contains swabs for the cheek tissue and a container for the breast tissue to make sure they both belong to the same patient."
AFTER REEDA'S BIOPSY, ATTAI TOOK THE CHEEK SWAB AS SHE'S DEMONSTRATING HERE.
"And the cheek swab DNA is matched with the DNA from the tissue sample that we took from her breast. If there is a match in the DNA then we know that that woman's cancer is truly her cancer."
SINCE REEDA'S CHEEK SWAB AND BREAST SAMPLE MATCHED, ATTAI WAS SURE REEDA DID HAVE CANCER. DESPITE THE NEWS, REEDA WAS RELIEVED.

Just inside the accused killer's 800SQ FT apartment was a wire, running
about waist-high, placed there to set-off a BOMB ---a DIABOLICAL--
POTENTIALLY DEADLY SURPRISE for whoever crossed it.
"this apartment was designed / to kill whoever entered it."
The IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE near the door was composed of two liquids
which, if combined, investigators believed would have ignited.

The living room floor was ALSO covered with 30 potential BOMBS, each
connected to a control panel in the kitchen with a spaghetti like jumble of
wires.

CARNAGE -- potentially enough to blow up his apartment.

GRANDMA.
"YOUR ACTIONS ARE AFFECTING HER HEALTH WE'VE JUST FOUND OUT SHE RECENTLY HAD
A MINI-STROKE."
APPARENTLY THE JACKSONS ARE UNITED IN WANTING THOSE EXECUTORS TO RESIGN, BUT
BEYOND THAT THERE ARE DEEPENING DIVISIONS: INTERNAL JACKSON INTRIGUE WE CAN
ONLY IMAGINE.
