Rain chances slipping away"
Rain chances are coming down today as the tropical moisture starts heading for the exit gates, leaving us with a hotter and drier weather pattern through the end of the week.
It appears enough lingering moisture will still be in play to produce a few isolated downpours and thunderstorms late in the morning through midday , but an onshore flow will push the spotty storms inland this afternoon.
We'll also enjoy a lot more sunshine today and, as a result, some warmer temperatures. Most spots will be on track to see lower 90s this afternoon except near the beaches where temperatures will stay a couple degrees lower.

For the boaters and beach goers, winds will be primarily out of the southwest around 5 knots this afternoon, putting seas and open waters at 2 feet or less while inland waters stay at a light chop.
Inland storms will fade by sunset tonight, leaving all of us with clearing skies and lows in the middle 70s.
From Wednesday through the upcoming weekend: dry, stable will take hold of Southwest Florida, greatly reducing our rain chances and providing more heat. Our afternoon temperatures during this time will likely peak in the middle 90s, making the air feel like we're between 100-107 degrees.

THE OLYMPICS HAVE CHANGED.
IT'S NO LONGER JUST TRACK AND FIELD,

"We're going to be very connected to these athletes."
THAT'S BECAUSE MORE AND MORE OLYMPIC ATHLETES ARE NOW SHARING THEIR EXPERIENCES ONLINE. FROM FACEBOOK TO TWITTER.
"I think it allows you to get to know these athletes. It's like the whole world is going to be watching them perform. But now the whole world can kind of see their story leading up to it."
SO BESIDES WATCHING ON TV. NBC IS WORKING WITH MAJOR SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES TO BRING THE DAILY NEWS, ACTION AND EVENTS TO COMPUTER SCREENS EVERYWHERE.
ANOTHER WAY TO DRIVE ENTHUSIASM FOR THE 26 SPORTING EVENTS. AND THE ATHLETES BEHIND THEM.
"You're going to see a lot of that where people are looking to get that insider access that they don't have from just the broadcast pieces."
IT USED TO BE YOU HAD TO WATCH ALL THE OLYMPICS ON ONE CHANNEL, NOW THERE'S MULTIPLE CABLE CHANNELS, AND NEARLY EVERY EVENT WILL BE ONLINE.
THAT IS DRIVING MORE PEOPLE INTO THE ELECTRONIC STORES TO FIND TV'S, LAPTOPS AND TABLETS TO ENJOY THE GAMES.
BUT THIS DRIVE FOR CONNECTION WILL DO MORE THAN THAT.
THE IDEA IS NOT ONLY TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF FANS KEEPING UP ON THEIR FAVORITE EVENTS. BUT ALSO TO CONNECT FANS ONTO A WORLDWIDE STAGE.
"You're not just looking at tv and watching these athletes, you're telling people how excited you are, who you want to root for, or who you are upset about. You really get to have a dialog and conversation."
