THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
ERNESTO COULD BECOME A HURRICANE TONIGHT
In the tropics, Ernesto is showing signs of becoming better organized again. Some stronger storms are trying to organize around the center, and it has a great chance of strengthening into a hurricane by tonight. When it is all said and done, it could get up to a CAT 2!
The thinking on the path of Ernesto remains unchanged. The storm will continue its westward motion and eventually make landfall over the Yucatan peninsula midweek. Ernesto may then re-emerge into the Bay of Campeche Thursday before finally moving into Central Mexico by the end of the week.
Meanwhile Florence has weakened into a remnant low, and it is going continue weakening as it moves west.
Neither system will have an affect on southwest Florida.
As for our local weather we're going to see less in the way of rain this week, more in the way of hotter temperatures.
Tuesday morning, a few coastal showers will be possible, but they'll be very brief and isolated.
We'll see another round of scattered rain and storms by the afternoon. The storms will probably cover less ground Tuesday compared to Monday as drier air starts to cut into our rain chances.
Wednesday will likely be the driest day of the week, but we still can't rule out a few isolated storms during the afternoon. All and all you'll have nothing to worry about, however, temperatures will rise to near 95!
Normal August weather will continue through the weekend with isolated thunderstorms during the late afternoon and early evening. Temperatures will hold around 93 to 94.
Boating conditions will not be a little rough. Winds are forecasted to be from the south at 15 knots, seas 2-3 feet, and inland waterways will have a light chop.

Return to index of stories...
THIS IS MERREDITH CUNNIFF, A QUINCY MOTHER TURNED IN BY HER OWN FATHER, WHO BELIEVES SHE IS THE BANK ROBBER SEEN IN THESE SURVEILLANCE PHOTOS. NEIGHBOR JOHN DICARLI SAYS HER DAD WAS TRYING TO PROTECT HER.
He did the right thing. You know, he had to. I would have done the same thing. You don't want to do it, but you have to.
THE 37-YEAR-OLD, ALLEGEDLY SEEN HERE AT THE MT, WASHINGTON BANK IN SOUTHIE, THEN AT THE COLONIAL FEDERAL IN QUINCY, AND AGAIN, AT A BANK IN MARSHFIELD OVER THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS.
It was the father and uncle who came into the station, suspecting that their daughter was into some type of criminal activity, because they saw the pictures on the Mass Most Wanted.
POLICE SAY THE MEN POSITIVELY ID'd HER PHOTO, THEN CALLED POLICE A FEW DAYS LATER WHEN SHE RETURNED HOME. THAT'S WHEN SHE WAS ARRESTED. HER ALLEGED M-O WAS SIMPLE.
Just had the ball cap on, walked in, and when it was her turn, walked up and asked for the money.
POLICE SAY SHE WALKED AWAY WITH 1,500 BUCKS FROM THE QUINCY BANK, THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY SHE WAS BAILED ON. ALTHOUGH NEIGHBORS SAY HER DAD DID THE RIGHT THING, NOT EVERYONE AGREES.
They want to be good citizens. But at the same time, it's your daughter. Who does that?
