All eyes will be on the tropics this weekend as Isaac moves across the Caribbean. In the meantime, the weather across Southwest Florida will stay hot and humid with below normal rain chances for Friday.
Plenty of sun this morning will give way to partly sunny skies as we go through the afternoon. Temperatures will warm from the middle and upper 70s to the lower to middle 90s.
A few isolated downpours are possible through the peak heating of the day as the sea breeze tries to make its way inland, however the vast majority of southwest Florida will stay fairly dry.
Tonight, skies will be mostly clear with lows in mid 70s to near 80° along the coast and beach locations.
A few afternoon showers and storms remain in the forecast for Saturday with temperatures in the 90s.
By Sunday, we'll begin to see an increase in the cloud cover due to Tropical Storm Isaac along with breezier conditions, with deteriorating conditions during the evening hours.
Models are currently favoring a path near or just offshore the west coast of Florida, but that track will be fine tuned in the days ahead, and all of Southwest Florida remains in the forecast cone

TURN NOW TO THAT STUNNING NEWS ABOUT LANCE ARMSTRONG --
THE U.S. ANTI-DOPING AGENCY IS STRIPPING AWAY HIS SEVEN TOUR DE FRANCE TITLES -- AND

UNFAIR.
Return to index of stories...
This morning the US Anti Doping Agency says it's official--Lance Armstrong -
ARGUABLY ONE THE MOST FAMOUS ATHLETES IN THE WORLD -- used drugs to fuel
his wins and THEN LED a wide ranging doping conspiracy to keep his team on
top.
Christine Brennan/USA Today The reality is that there is so much cheating
going on in sports that just because you don't fail a drug test doesn't mean
you're not cheating.
Travis Tygart/USADA it's a really important day for clean athletes.it
sends an important reminder and message that if you cheat with dangerous
performance enhancing drugs you're going to be held accountable and the
decision to dope does not pay.
Armstrong, doesn't admit a thing. He spent a small fortune on the case,
fighting and losing in federal court.
He was left with no good options--either face an open hearing and POSSIBLY
damning testimony-or REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE
grfx
In a statement, he writes "enough is enough""today I turn the page. I will
no longer address this issue, regardless of the circumstances."-adding that
he is innocent, but believes the process is "one sided and unfair."
ARMSTRONG SAYS THE AGENCY HAS NO POWER TO TAKE AWAY HIS YELLOW JERSEYS. "I
know who won those seven Tours" he writes.

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Higher education and the Naples real estate market are in the spotlight on this week's "Naples Daily NewsMakers with Jeff Lytle''
Brenda Fioretti of the Naples Board of Realtors discusses:

Wilson Bradshaw:
After FCAT, how should schools measure student achievement?
What did we learn from the Penn State debacle?
Wilson Bradshaw, president of Florida Gulf Coast University, looks at how public schools should use standardized tests, whether scholarships keep up with tuition and what was learned from Penn State.

I think really the challenge is how do you use that test? Is it a test that's used to make or break students in terms of whether they advance or not? Or is a test that should be more properly used to determine where students are and what we need to do to get them where they need to be?
I'd like to see the FCAT and other standardized tests to be used more as an assessment test as opposed to a high-stakes kind of test. And I would imagine that those who craft those exams would tend to agree with me
