THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Last week was a washout of a weekend thanks to Isaac, but for the upcoming holiday weekend rain chances will stay below normal.
It will be a warm start to our Saturday with plenty of sunshine across our skies. Temperatures will warm quickly into the lower to middle 90s with a few fair weather clouds developing during the heat of the day.
There stands a chance for a hit or miss afternoon downpour, however with a drier and more stable weather pattern settling in across the Peninsula, shower and storm activity will be few and far between.
Tonight, skies remain mostly clear and temperatures will eventually fall into the mid to upper 70s by morning.
Our quieter than normal weather will continue through the holiday weekend with sunny starts and a low end chance of an isolated afternoon pop up storm.
The pattern will begin to shift by mid week with more moisture moving into Southwest Florida with the shower activity beginning a bit earlier in the day.
In the tropics, the remnants of Isaac continue to move northbound across the Midwest where a historic drought has a taken over. Kirk and Leslie remain out in the open Atlantic and will not be a threat to Southwest Florida as both are set to recurve out to sea.

PRESIDENT OBAMA HAS LESS THAN 70 DAYS TO CONVINCE VOTERS TO STAY THE COURSE.
OBAMA NAT POP: That's why I'm running for president of the United States of
America
DEMOCRATS NEED TO MAKE THIS ELECTION A CHOICE - BETWEEN PRESIDENT OBAMA'S
PLANS FOR ECONOMIC RECOVERY AND THAT OF REPUBLICANS.NOT A REFERENDUM ON THE
PRESIDENT'S RECORD.
Cokie Roberts SOT: President's Obama theme for this election has
been forward. That he will take the country forward. He has to actually
show how he's going to do that.
BUT WITH A STRUGGLING ECONOMY THAT HASN'T BEEN EASY.
POLLS SHOW THAT AMERICANS HAVE GROWN INCREASINGLY FRUSTRATED WITH THE
PRESIDENT'S HANDLING OF THE ECONOMY - AND THAT'S MAKING THIS A VERY TIGHT
RACE.
OBAMA NAT POP: We know we still got a lot of work to do, to get to where we
need to be, but we are going to get there!
NEXT WEEK, IN CHARLOTTE, IT'LL BE UP TO THE DEMOCRATS TO TOUT THE OBAMA
PRESIDENCY--
OBAMA NAT POP: He calls my health care law "Obamacare." I call his plan "
Romney-Doesn't-Care.
--RE-IGNITE HIS BASE
RALLY NAT POP: Four more years!
--AND LAY OUT HIS PLAN FOR AMERICA'S FUTURE.
Cokie Roberts SOT: In Tampa Paul Ryan asked the question -
without new leadership why should the next four years be any different from
the last four years. Barack Obama has to answer that question.
DEMOCRATS WILL BE ROLLING OUT OF HEAVY WEIGHTS TO LEND A HAND, INCLUDING
FORMER PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON-
AND THE PRESIDENT'S SO-CALLED "CLOSER."
MICHELLE OBAMA NATS POP: We have come so far, but we have so much more work
to do.
SO FAR PRESIDENT OBAMA'S STRONG PERSONAL LIKEABILITY RATINGS ARE KEEPING HIM
AFLOAT.
NEXT WEEK, HE NEEDS TO CONVINCE AMERICANS THAT HIS PROMISE OF HOPE AND
CHANGE CAN STILL BE MET, THEY JUST GIVE HIM ANOTHER FOUR YEARS. KT ABC NEWS

"In one sense I can say I hate it, in another sense I can tell you it's been a lifesaver for my daughter."
SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK BEFORE BED, MISSY ST. PETER CRUSHES A 3-MILLIGRAM DOSE OF MELATONIN, MIXES IT WITH PEANUT BUTTER AND GIVES IT TO HER 9-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER VICKY ON A CRACKER
"If I give her melatonin, she doesn't wake up in the middle of the night. She gets a full 8 hours. Everyone in the house is happy."
AFTER HAVING CONSISTENT TROUBLE GETTING VICKY AND THEIR ENERGETIC SON BUBBA TO BED ON TIME, ST. PETER AND HER HUSBAND DAN TURNED TO MELATONIN, A HORMONAL SUPPLEMENT RECOMMENDED BY THEIR PEDIATRICIAN.
"However, the increasingly popular over-the-counter supplement also has a potential down side. The pill that has worked wonders for the St. Peters' daughter has turned out to be a disaster for their 7-year-old son."
"Every time I give him melatonin he wakes up in the middle of the night and he's terrified. I stopped the melatonin."
THE ST. PETERS' MIXED RESULTS ARE HARD TO EXPLAIN BUT THE DOCTORS WE SPOKE WITH AGREE ONE THING IS CLEAR -- MELATONIN ISN'T NECESSARILY QUALIFIED TO BE A SAFE SLEEP AID FOR KIDS.
"It's very easy to walk into a drug store and see shelves of pills that are supplements and are marketed to treat a certain condition even though legally they can't market them as such."
SOME BOTTLES SAY MELATONIN ACTUALLY "HELPS PROMOTE SLEEP" BUT IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY, THERE'S A DISCLAIMER ON THE BACK:
"THESE STATEMENTS HAVE NOT BEEN EVALUATED BY THE FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION. THIS PRODUCT IS NOT INTENDED TO DIAGNOSE, TREAT, CARE OR PREVENT ANY DISEASE."
TOXICOLOGIST DR. KELLY JOHNSON-ARBOR SAYS MELATONIN IS A HORMONE THAT IS SECRETED BY YOUR BRAIN, PRESENT IN EVERYONE'S BODY BUT SHE ADDS THE MANUFACTURED SUPPLEMENTS HAVE NOT BEEN CLINICALLY PROVEN TO BE A HEALTHY SLEEP AGENT.
