AT THE NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE, I'M ELLEN BRAITMAN WITH THE BLOOMBERG BUSINESS REPORT.
Return to index of stories...
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
Not much change is in the forecast for Friday, as a moist tropical flow off the Gulf of Mexico stays in place. This will result in a few showers developing during the morning in our coastal waterways and near our beach locations.
Through the day, a few showers and storms will continue to make their way inland with most of Southwest Florida under partly sunny skies. Highs will be near normal as temperatures climb into the lower 90s, with heat index values near 100°.
A few heavy downpours will be located deep inland late in the day, but we can't rule out a few of those migrating back to the coast around sunset. After the rain fades, skies will clear and lows will settle into the middle to upper 70s.
We're watching an area of disturbed weather in the Gulf, that has ties to Isaac. The National Hurricane Center is giving this a low to medium chance of development over the next 48 hours, however the window of opportunity for intensification is shrinking as it will be fighting some wind shear over the next day or two.
Over the weekend, the area of low pressure in the Gulf will link up with an approaching cold front and will throw some extra moisture in our direction with an increase in shower and storm activity by Sunday and into early next week.
Elsewhere in the tropics, Hurricane Leslie and Hurricane Michael continue to swirl in the open waters of the Atlantic. Neither will be a threat to Southwest Florida as they recurve out to sea.

No empty chairs.
Guests working on fire district consolidation, judicial elections and local jobs share the hot seat on this week's "Naples Daily NewsMakers with Jeff Lytle'' program airing Sunday morning at 10 on ABC7.
Marvin Easton, a fire consolidation adviser, sizes up how much tax money can be saved by streamlining insurance;
Goldenberg, co-founder of Idea Farm South, explains how the Bonita Springs-based tech project can make money and grow jobs.
Gwynne Young, president of the Florida Bar, discusses what's at stake in judges' merit retention elections on Nov. 6; and Yuliya
Young is from Tampa and says elections pitting conservatives versus three sitting state supreme court justices are more important than they look.
Video clip:
Young: I believe it's very important to keep politics out of the merit retention process, and I think that's why the process was implemented in the first place. I think you want judges to make hard decisions, and you want them to apply the law to the facts without fear that if they come up with a decision that people don't like by doing the right thing and applying the law to the facts, you don't want them to feel pressure not to do the right thing.
That's Gwynee Young, and by the way, the Florida Bar has 93,000 members.
That's Naples Daily NewsMakers right here on ABC7 Sunday morning at 10.
