LET'S GET RIGHT OVER TO METEOROLOGIST KIRA MINER WITH OUR STORMWARN 7 FORECAST.
Return to index of stories...
THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.
IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.
After a pretty nice Saturday, some changes are on the horizon for the second half of the weekend and into early next week.
This morning, most will start off mainly dry, however with our steering winds remaining out of the southwest a couple of isolated showers along our coastal areas can't be ruled out. Otherwise, expect partly sunny skies and warm temperatures.
A cool front to our north will continue to slow down as it tries to work its way down the Peninsula. This combined with some remnant moisture of the "remnants of Isaac", will enhance our rainfall potential through the day especially for areas north of the Caloosahatchee. A few showers should favor our beach locations during the morning/midday hours with rain activity shifting inland during the afternoon. Temperatures will still manage to make their way into the lower 90s in most spots under a mix of sun and clouds.
The first part of the week looks to be the wettest as this front stalls across the region, bringing more cloud cover and a better coverage of showers and storms to the area. As the front dissipates, some slightly drier air will filter in across Southwest Florida with a drop in our humidity levels by the middle of next week. While our daytime highs won't be any cooler, we will see some comfortable nights as lows dip into the lower to middle 70s.
In the tropics, Tropical Storm Leslie and Hurricane Michael continue to spin out in the open waters of the Atlantic. Leslie looks to brush just to the East of Bermuda, while Michael heads towards to North Atlantic.

ARI HALLMARK ISN'T JUST READING A BOOK. SHE'S READING A BOOK SHE WROTE.
IT'S CALLED "TO HEAVEN: AFTER THE STORM."
IN IT, SHE RECOUNTS THE APRIL 27TH, 2011 TORNADO THAT LEVELED HER GRANDPARENTS' HOME CLAIMING THE LIVES OF HER PARENTS, HER PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS, AND HER COUSIN JAYDEN HALLMARK.
IT WAS WITHIN THIS TORNADO THAT ARI DESCRIBES SEEING A STAIRCASE TO HEAVEN.
BUT ARI SAW SOMEONE. A WOMAN. TALL, WITH LONG WAVY BLONDE HAIR.
"Oh, my angel."
ARI HAD NEVER SEEN HER. BUT SHE KNEW ARI'S NAME. AND SHE HELD HER HAND.
AT THE TOP OF THE STEPS, ARI DESCRIBES SEEING TWO HUGE DOORS.
"They were really tall and had diamond handles."
AND THE DOORS OPENED. ARI SAW FAMILY MEMBERS WHO HAD ALREADY PASSED AWAY. THEN SHE SAW SOMEONE HOLDING HER LITTLE COUSIN JAYDEN.
"WHO WAS HOLDING JAYDEN?"
"Jesus."
AT THAT POINT, THE ANGEL TOOK ARI BACK DOWN. ARI REMEMBERS WAKING UP IN A FIELD NEAR HER GRANDPARENTS' HOME.
"I was just laying there crying for Mommy and Daddy, not knowing what to to."
ENTER DR. LISA REBURN, A FAMILY FRIEND WHO WORKS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH ALABAMA AND WORKS WITH GRIEVING CHILDREN. SHE'S A FAMILY FRIEND WHO BECAME ARI'S MENTOR.
"She had so much detail and was so articulate."
DR. REBURNE KNEW WHAT SHE WAS HEARING WAS A TREASURE. SHE SPECIALIZES IN SETTING UP CURRICULUMS. AND WHAT SHE SET UP FOR ARI WAS "TREASURE BOXES." THAT'S WHAT ARI CALLED THE CASKETS OF HER FAMILY MEMBERS. DR. REBURN FILLED TWO BOXES WITH KEEPSAKES FROM ARI'S FATHER AND MOTHER. THINGS LIKE HER DAD'S WALLET AND GLASSES. PICTURES FROM HER MOTHER.
"CHEWING GUM?"
"That was my mom's favorite."
ONE THING DR. REBURN AND KIM HUNT, ONE OF ARI'S TEACHERS, QUICKLY REALIZED IS THIS COULD HELP COUNTLESS CHILDREN AND ADULTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. THAT'S WHY THIS BOOK WAS BORN. IT'S FILLED WITH ARTWORK, ARI'S ARTWORK AND WORDS, AND PHOTOGRAPHS.
"When you hear her talk about this, there's no way it didn't happen. It doesn't matter what I think. It just is. It's something that happened to her. It's very real. There's no way it's not her experience."
SO WHY THE BOOK? BOTH ARI AND DR. REBURN FEEL, IT CAN HELP COUNTLESS OTHERS UNDERSTAND WHAT LIES BEYOND.
"To let me know where they are."
"If you lose somebody close to you, which we all do, to know they went immediately to a whole wonderful place. How can you it not do anything but give you hope?"
HOPE THAT THE "END" IS REALLY JUST A NEW BEGINNING
