YOUR VOICE, YOUR VOTE-PKG

Fresh off those new poll numbers-

President Obama-- in Florida -

Getting a different kind of lift.

The owner of a pizza shop - lifting the President a foot off the floor.

A registered Republican - telling the President he voted for him before --

and will again--

the kind of voter-- the persuadables-- both sides are fiercely fighting

for.

And something new from Romney - after months of hearing this:

ROMNEY SOTS: "Day one/ I will repeal Obamacare/ The first thing I'll do

is get rid of it."

Romney now says there are parts of healthcare reform - he likes:

ROMNEY MTP SOT: Well, I'm not getting rid of all of healthcare reform. Of

course there are a number of things that I like in healthcare reform that I'

m going to put in place. One is to make sure that those with pre-existing

conditions can get coverage.

The President meantime trying to the take the attention off of those new -

and anemic-- jobs numbers-- hitting Romney on his tax plan.

OBAMA SOT: They couldn't answer questions about how they'd pay for $5

trillion in new tax cuts and $2 trillion in new defense spending without

raising taxes on the middle class. That's not bold leadership -- that's bad

math

George asked Romney's running mate about that math

RYAN SOT: The best way to do this is to show the framework, show the

outlines of these plans, then to work with Congress to do this. That's how

you get things done.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Isn't that a --secret plan?

RYAN: -- we don't want to -- no, no. No, no. What we don't want is a

secret plan.

STEPHANOPOULOS: But why not specify the -- loopholes now? /

RYAN George, because we want to have this debate in the public.

And Mrs. Romney-- fighting back-against the notion - they don't know what

it's like to struggle:

ANN ROMNEY MTP SOT: "One thing that I that I again like to remind people is

that multiple sclerosis has been my teacher. At times a cruel teacher. /

And for people to think that we don't have empathy just because we're

suffering like they're suffering is ridiculous." Return to index of stories...

NATS - "HOARDING CLIP"

If you've ever watched one of those reality shows about hoarding and thought

.there could be some deadly disease lurking under all of that junk.

NATS - "OH, MY GOD, THE ODOR."

Well, you might be right.

At least about this house in the pricey planned community of The Woodlands

north of Houston.

A woman cleaning the home for a future episode of TLC's "Hoarding: Buried

Alive" developed a respiratory disease that officials believe is caused by

the hantavirus.

SOT - Dr Mark Escott - Medical Director, Montgomery County, Texas

"Hantavirus is a disease that's carried by rodents, /And when you go

through processes like cleaning the home, sweeping, vaccuuming, that sort of

thing, it goes into the air."

The virus is fatal up to half the time. The infected woman is recovering,

but this morning a deputy sits outside the house to make sure everyone stays

a safe distance away. As many as 30 people between the cleanup and film

crews were in and out of the home over the last two weeks.

SOT - Jim Polito, Neighbor

"That house was made to order for that kind of thing/ there's not any

cleaning going on."

This comes after three visitors to Yosemite National Park died from the same

virus after staying in infested cabins. Tens of thousands of other

tourists were warned to watch for symptoms.

The producers of hoarding refused to comment on this latest case. But

this morning, the home they hoped to feature on TV made it---just not how

they planned.

FORECAST-WXWALL

THIS WEATHERCAST HAS BEEN PREPARED BY THE ABC7 WEATHER STAFF.

IT IS NOT A VERBATIM OF WHAT IS BEING SAID, BUT IS THE FORECAST FOR OUR AREA.

Higher rain chances return to the forecast Monday as a weak front settles right over Southwest Florida. This front will keep the atmosphere unsettled over the next couple days until some drier air chips away at our rain chances by Wednesday.

Rainy days and Mondays don't always make for the best combination, but at least the rain won't be too widespread.

We'll mainly just see a scattering of showers starting as early as this morning and then carrying over into the afternoon. Shower movement will be from west to east, and locations farther north will likely see the most rain.

A few thunderstorms will also be possible today, especially once things start to heat up a little by the late morning and afternoon, but we don't anticipate any severe weather.

Winds will be a little breezy at times, and wind gusts may get up to 20 mph, especially near the coast.

Aside from the extra showers today, our sky should still be at least partially sunny. We will, however, notice a lot more clouds cover compared to the weekend, and as a result, temperatures should only warm into the mid to upper 80s.

Tuesday will likely be a tad wetter as the front gradually slides farther south. Look for the possibility of rain Tuesday morning and then more rain and a few thunderstorms during the afternoon.

By Wednesday, the front should be far enough south so that we get more sun and fewer showers along with a slight dip in humidity. Overnight and early mornings will also be more comfortable starting Wednesday with mostly clear skies and lows in the low to mid 70s.

On Thursday and Friday, we'll enjoy mainly skies for most of the day, but some late-day showers and a few storms will still be possible, particularly for areas close to the coast and Highway 41.

High temperatures through the second half of the week will warm into the low 90s. Return to index of stories...

THEY SAY IT WAS A MAJOR CONTRIBUTOR TO THE FINANCIAL CRISIS.

THAT'S WHY THERE'S A NEW PUSH ON TO GET PARENTS TO TEACH THEIR CHILDREN.THE VIRTUES OF BASIC FINANCE.

"Children can really start to understand financial concepts, basic financial concepts, as early as kindergarten"

LET THEM WATCH AS YOU OPEN THE ACCOUNT.

WHETHER ITS A TOY. OR A CAMERA. KIDS WILL TRY TO PUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IN THEIR MOUTHS.

"They just children. their hands be everywhere."

LINDA ALEXANDER IS THE OWNER OF LUKE MIRACLE'S GROUP DAYCARE AND SHE SAYS KEEPING THE KIDS ARE SAFE AND HEALTHY IS HER TOP PRIORITY.

"Pretty much everything that can be touched by a child. we wipe it down."

GERMS SPREAD EASILY WHEN KIDS ARE IN CLOSE QUARTERS ESPECIALLY AT SCHOOLS AND DAYCARES. AND PINKEYE IS ONE OF THE MOST CONTAGIOUS.

"I pretty much spray it everywhere, mostly on the toys and let it air dry."

A CHILD CAN GET BACTERIAL OR VIRAL PINKEYE FROM AN INFECTED CHILD COUGHING OR SNEEZING OR TOUCHING TOYS THAT ARE CONTAMINATED.

"If they put it in their mouth we sanitize, basically we sanitize everythign every day anyway."

IT'S UNCOMFORTABLE AND YOUR CHILD MAY WAKE UP WITH RED OR PINK EYES. OR THEIR EYE MAY BE STUCK TOGETHER BECAUSE OF DISCHARGE.

"We've been open for four years and so far we haven't had a case of pink eye."

SHE SAYS THE KEY TO SUCCESS IS SIMPLE. WASHING HANDS.

"The thing I stress to my staff is wash your hands. after every diaper change, we wear gloves. but still, wash your hands."

THEY USE GLOVES TO CHANGE DIAPERS AND CHANGE THE SHEETS ON EACH CHILD'S CRIB DAILY.

IF SHE THOUGHT A CHILD DID HAVE PINK EYE. THEY WOULD BE SENT HOME AND ASKED TO GET A NOTE FROM THE DOCTOR.

BUT IT MAY BE A TYPE OF PINK EYE THAT IS NOT CONTAGIOUS.

"It also could be allergies, so we tell the parents to go get a statement from the doctor saying that they don't have pink eye."

IN MOST CASES. PINK EYE CAN BE TREATED WITH EYE DROPS AND LASTS ONLY A FEW DAYS, BUT IT'S IMPORTANT TO KEEP THAT CHILD ISOLATED UNTIL IT GOES AWAY. Return to index of stories...

It's a mystery, of sorts.

Woman:

"A big part landed behind that red car over there."

.how a landing gear door from a passing jetliner ended up crashing into a Seattle-area neighborhood.

Woman:

"Tt was a big slap of metal."

Neighbors in Kent, Washington said they saw a low flying plane like this one just before the carbon fiber door smashed to the ground in front of John Hansen's house.

Hansen:

"I came back and went to turn in my driveway and there was part of an airplane sitting there."

A tag on the door indicates it came from a Boeing 767. The FAA is investigating.

"They're gonna look closely at the maintenance of it and then also, whether the airplane, whether the gear was extended at proper speeds"

It's not the first time airplane parts have rained down on populated areas.

Last May in Toronto, chunks of metal from an engine of an Air Canada jet peppered a neighborhood with debris, smashing car windows. No one was hurt.

In Florida, the a door and stairwell from a small plane ripped away and landed on a golf course.

In 2009, an engine of DC-10 cargo plane exploded on takeoff in Brazil. The plane landed safely, but showered a neighborhood with parts, some weighing more than 500 pounds.

"when you think of the amount of flights that we do per day, both with the airline airplanes as well as general aviation, there are thousands of airplanes that fly every day and it's very rare to have something come off of it."

Back in Washington State, John Hansen is holding on to a part of the plane's door that nearly hit his house.

Hansen:

"It's a souvenir, keep it around, see how lucky I was." Return to index of stories...

FL MAN CHARGED WITH MURDERING FAMILY-PKG

"They are saying that I did it? Is that what you're saying?" "Well, in the court of law, innocent until proven guilty. That is all I can say, miss."

THAT'S THE RESPONSE FROM 22-YEAR-OLD AZAEL STEVENS, ACCUSED OF MURDERING HIS GRANDMOTHER AND GREAT-GRANDMOTHER ON HIS BIRTHDAY.

A FAMILY FRIEND WITNESSED IT ALL AND WAS SHOT IN THE FACE INSIDE THIS HOME BUT MANAGED TO GET AWAY WITH HER EIGHT-YEAR-OLD SON BY RUNNING TO A NEIGHBOR FOR HELP.

"He was just frightened. Him and his mom was frightened, just wondering if the guy was going to come back and get them."

STEVEN JOHNSON CALLED 911, AND THEN IT ALL STARTED TO SINK IN THAT THE SHOOTER WAS HIS NEIGHBOR'S GRANDSON, WHO SHE HAD RAISED SINCE HE WAS JUST A TODDLER.SADDENED BY THE NEWS BUT THANKFUL THEIR FRIEND AND HER SON MADE IT OUT.

"I guess you just don't know somebody as well as you think you do. Somebody that you raised all your life suddenly turns against you and take you out."

"She was able to tell us that she knew who the suspect was, she knew the suspect was in her vehicle, so with that information, we were able to find that suspect within 20 minutes, arrest him, and now he is in the Marion County jail."

IN THIS EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW, STEVENS DENIES ALL CHARGES.

"But I don't understand that, because I lived there."

JUST IN HEARING THAT YOU DON'T SEEM VERY EMOTIONAL AT ALL.

"No. What can I say? I'm a man. We don't show emotion that much. Inside it hurt, because they raised me from young. They took me different place of the country. I'm hoping it's not them, but if it is, may they rest in peace." Return to index of stories...

FORECAST-WX WALL
